Ticked Off Our premier continues to bow down to the U.S. president-elect’s claim that we should curtail drugs going into the States. The Americans monitor what goes into their territory, not Canada. Why is she agreeing to his claim of our culpability? Tickled Pink If Dodge dealers would show their customers how to run their vehicle light switch and turn off the fog lights. Duh. Ticked Off Donald Trump seems to think tariffs punish the country of origin, but if the U.S. cannot supply the oil, auto parts, or agricultural products that Canada supplies, who will? The loser in this scenario is the American consumer. Ticked Off The mayor doesn’t show up in person to discuss city budget. Calls in. Very unacceptable. City budget needs to be taken seriously. Ticked Off The speed limit sign posted at the entrance to our shared parking lot is clearly visible, as is the second sign further in. The sign is not the problem – the drivers of the vehicles are, and the complete lack of enforcement by board/management. Ticked Off That the UPC government is willing to jeopardize Albertans’ safety by removing “the cash cow” photo radar option for policing drivers. Since when has slowing drivers to the posted speed been a bad thing? The sight of the minister flaunting a gloating message on his shirt simply underlined their attitude. Ticked Off People flashing their high beams at me every morning lately. People in small cars need to realize they are eye level with the headlights of trucks and that makes them seem brighter. I have double and triple checked to make sure I don’t run my high beams. I usually don’t flash back cause I don’t want to blind people, but I might have to start giving them a taste of their own medicine. Tickled Pink If Canada Post stopped delivery of all residential mail at the door, installed all remaining needed community mailboxes and had mail delivered there. Reduce frequency of delivery to Mon., Wed., Fri. The savings may help CP provide the salaries and benefits for remaining carriers/drivers. Tickled Pink All the talk against Trump is fair, he is far from an example to look to. But he won in pretty convincing fashion. Does this tell us more about Trump, or about the terrible ideology of the left? (Editor’s note: It definitely says a lot about the Democratic Party.) Ticked Off To the person who wants Tigers fans to boo Kelowna Rockets out of town, why? It’s not the kids’ of that team who made the decision. They are just kids. Don’t take your frustrations out on them. Ticked Off Fifty-four-year-old franchise, five Memorial Cup appearances and two championships. The team and city should have every right to think that a first time bid could be successful. (Editor’s note: Also a fair point.) Ticked Off That the poorly informed local ‘taxpayers group’ screamed loud enough that our council blew over $30 million in energy rebates last year. That same money could have prevented four to five years of property tax increases. Ticked Off Disappointed not having the nod to host the 2026 Memorial Cup. We have everything in this city to host this event. A beautiful arena, a great hockey team, hotels, restaurants, volunteers, etc. Politics, even at this level. (Editor’s note: It’s hard to wonder this when the Tigers have the best junior player in North America and Kelowna was still a unanimous pick.) Ticked Off That the News declined to interview the Memorial Cup decision makers, regardless of the process. What a missed opportunity. (Editor’s note: Actually, declining to interview the league president with pre-screened questions led to them accepting an interview with questions asked properly, which is taking place as I type. Politicians already get away with issuing statements to every inquiry, someone needs to draw a line somewhere.) Ticked Off Perhaps Danielle Smith and her UCP government should do away with municipal elections and appoint her faithful to run the towns and cities. They keep making changes (without consultation) on a number of issues, i.e. photo radar. Perhaps she should follow her advice to Ottawa and stay in her own lane when it comes to municipal governance and policy. Tickled Pink By the hard-working city plows and graders out at 3-5 a.m., quietly taking care to make our roads safe for driving. I also love the marketing campaign where we got to vote on names for them! So far I’ve seen Taylor Drift and Snow-Be-Gone Kenobi. They always make me smile. Ticked Off Photo radar isn’t a “cash cow” if you don’t break the law. Don’t speed and you won’t get a ticket in the mail, it’s as simple as that. Ticked Off When did helicopter ambulance become a city project? And why does city council support just the one non-profit? Ticked Off The province calls photo radar being used mostly outside school zones and playground zones a cash cow, and our police chief says that’s just hurtful. I guess the truth hurts. Tickled Pink With the hugs I have received for nearly 50 years from my wife! I don’t have that many to compare them to, but I think they’re the best! 41
