Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Nov. 26, 2024

Tickled Pink

The lady at the registry office didn’t believe her computer when it said I qualified for a seniors discount for my vehicle registration renewal. She had to pull out a calculator. Made my day!

Tickled Pink

“If you build it, they will come.” Building infrastructure for cyclists and pedestrians on Division Avenue will pay off in the long run with reduced vehicle use in a walkable neighborhood and a healthier population.

Ticked Off

A vigil for transgender violence in Medicine Hat? Have I been blind, or has the News not covered it. I’ve never seen it. (Editor’s note: We wrote about it before the event and then covered the event itself. On the front page. So I guess you’re blind.)

Ticked Off

Saskatchewan and B.C. have proven that provincially run auto insurance is more affordable and efficient than privately run insurers, which pay hundreds of millions to their shareholders. Why can’t we have a similar system? Because it wouldn’t be good for big business.

Ticked Off

The UCP doubling maximum rates on insurance increases for drivers with clean records, and taking away the ability to sue for negligence. They will continue to blame Trudeau for the cost of living crisis, while making life more expensive for the people they were elected to represent and serve.

Tickled Pink

The changes on Division Avenue may not be convenient to drivers, but it will protect pedestrians and cyclists. The turns might be a little narrow, but driving slower reduces fatalities of vulnerable road users.

Ticked Off

Alberta’s auto insurance premiums are the second highest in Canada. The UCP pretended to do something about it, but it turns out they didn’t. Another example of unnecessary legislation.

Tickled Pink

I appreciate Danielle Smith wants to go to Trump’s inauguration party in the U.S. He is a great man.

Ticked Off

That HALO keeps coming to the city for funds and that our city has supported this. If this isn’t covered under health care, the rural areas should be supporting it, not Medicine Hat. More funding should not be coming from the city.

Ticked Off

At the unnecessary road closures for Midnight Madness. I can’t figure out why they close Finlay Bridge and First Street at Maple Avenue. Revitalize downtown is all we hear, yet they close way more road than is needed.

Tickled Pink

To see our favourite lady back in our locally owned eatery. We missed the lovely smile and warm welcome from her. The food tastes great and the coffee is piping hot with her in place, and others seem more pleasant when she’s working. You look amazing.

Tickled Pink

For how the weather changed for the weekend. It is fantastic.

Tickled Pink

Good to see Pat King of the Freedom Convoy convicted. Two more to go, one local.

Tickled Pink

Lots of people out for Midnight Madness. Made the city feel so vibrant and full of life.

Ticked Off

City planners should have considered the weather before installing red bricks downtown and on the SE Hill. Our winters have snow and lots of ice. At Midnight Madness, the number of people participating (which was pretty awesome) meant we had to walk on the red brick quite a lot. With the little bit of snow we had, the red bricks were quite slippery.
