Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Sept. 26, 2024

Ticked Off

With pro athletes. Used be about the pride of winning a championship, but now it’s money, money, money. All the money you have at the end, who cares about a ring? You can buy a better one.

Ticked Off

To the person who called us “hicks,” my neighbour and I are working on the two vehicles in my yard just as soon as we finish the three in his. And those empty bathtubs are planters waiting to be filled. I bet back “east” you probably take your Audi to a high priced mechanic, and have a professional landscaper.

Tickled Pink

My wife of 46 years just got back from the hairdresser, and I can’t wait to take her out and show her off. She always looks great!

Ticked Off

The owner of the Blue Jays must have lost a bet to someone to have the players wear those disgusting black uniforms. They are horrible.

Ticked Off

Spent millions making the commute for 10,000 vehicles harder, to make the ride for a few bikes easier. All because a city planner likes riding to work, so feels everyone else should have to.

Ticked Off

When are all human beings going to understand that no one ever wins a war? Maybe decades or centuries ago, but no more.

Tickled Pink

That even though I am not a great fan of Prime Minister Trudeau, I was thrilled with his ambassadorship for Canadians when he was a guest on the Stephan Colbert show the other day. I certainly had an ‘oh my goodness’ moment when thinking how embarrassing for Canadians it would have been had the show chose a far right clown like PP or D. Smith to offer up the same interview.

Ticked Off

If anyone ever gave me a used and tattered book for Christmas, I’d throw them and the book right out of my house.

Tickled Pink

Thanks to St. Patrick’s Church for its used clothing sale. As a result, many citizens will be warm this winter. Keep up the good work!

Tickled Pink

Many kudos to the crew at a local lube shop on Carry Drive who quickly jumped in to assist my elderly mother after she blew a tire. They pushed her car into a bay, changed the wheel and got her on her way all at no charge. Thanks, guys, restores my faith in humanity.

Tickled Pink

With new Tigers play by play announcer Will Bryant! He actually calls the play and pays attention to the game. Bonus: he will get along well with the players since he’s about their age.

Tickled Pink

If the contributor who complained about the Catholic church’s role in residential schools would educate themselves and understand that the government and other churches and entities were also involved in running these horrible places.

Ticked Off

Thought condo board members had to be voted in. Not so in my building. They just walk in with a “security guard” and take over.

Ticked Off

So, we down river from the mining mountain area will get bludgeoned for the next 30 years with toxins and tailings, but can’t vote yes or no on this? I guess ‘looking out for your neighbour’ isn’t a consideration at all in that town.

Ticked Off

At how far right some satellite companies are. Would never go there because of your unusual political views. I would croak first.

Tickled Pink

Smart move on the UCP’s part to increase funding to independent schools. For decades these schools have provided superior results while costing taxpayers a fraction of what public schools get. Without this choice our tax input would be way higher.

Ticked Off

Glad to read that other people were not happy with the loudness at the Tigers game. My son and I were wondering if Co-op Place got a new sound system. If so, they need to find the volume button and lower it a couple of notches.

Tickled Pink

Every community complains about their community. Medicine Hat has its problems but it’s no worse than others. What is different about our city is the undeniable beauty! Especially this time of year. Go outside and appreciate the beautiful creation we get to live in.

Ticked Off

It was disturbing to read that $1.6 billion was spent in Canada to hire agency nurses last year because public health cannot retain sufficient nurses to meet regular staffing needs. When hospitals and other facilities have to bring in expensive agency nurses, the public money spent goes to private businesses.

Tickled Pink

If the people complaining about the yards in Ross Glen would come to East Glen Drive. Some properties are 10+, but several are -10. If the backyards look like their front yards, yikes.

Ticked Off

So, Rogers’ takeover of Shaw wasn’t going to change anything. Increased my bill by $21 per month ($7 for each rental box). Waiting on the phone for 50 minutes while the guy keeps telling me my call is important and there are no changes to my contract. Luckily my contract expires in December and I will not be renewing.

Tickled Pink

That no matter how bad the Toronto Blue Jays have been this season they’re way better than the Chicago White Sox.

Tickled Pink

At how clean and graffiti free Medicine Hat is compared to other cities. Thank you, city workers and young folks, for respecting our community!

Ticked Off

It is ironic that on the same day the newspaper featured Smith’s announcement of a plan for “vaccine choice,” a local service club was promoting vaccination efforts to eradicate polio. Is Smith going to prevent the service club from helping end polio?

Ticked Off

That the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society hasn’t yet made a formal funding request to Alberta Children and Family Services. So the women’s shelter is leaving $ 2 million unclaimed on the table? That’s outrageous.

Tickled Pink

That the power-hungry Opposition leader lost his non confidence vote federally. We need a vote against him to deflate his ego.
