Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, July 25, 2024

Tickled Pink

I’m very grateful to our local Stampede for the ways in which they support local and area nonprofits and volunteer groups by giving them a venue to connect with the public. This certainly enhances our sense of community.

Tickled Pink

I just heard the news on CBC that Joe Biden will fulfil his term and is not running for re-election. I’m very grateful for his service to his country.

Ticked Off

That the CFL lets Matt Dunnigan on as a commentator during the season. This is the guy who said he could coach a team to the Grey Cup because he was that good. But then the Stampeders gave him a chance. I guess a 4-14 record doesn’t get you a championship. All mouth, get rid of him.

Ticked Off

Pierre Poilievre claims Canada is broken. How is it broken? PP won’t explain. He is just a broken record rabble rouser spouting unsubstantiated nonsense. Canada is not broken, he is.

Tickled Pink

Still waiting for the editor’s mom to put her real feelings about her son’s comments on TO/TP, I bet she says one thing in public, but tells him he’s silly in private. But they are good comments. (Editor’s note: She’s still waiting for you to get the original joke, but I told her you might need another six months.)

Ticked Off

At MH Stampede for going cashless. Cash is legal tender. This should not be allowed. Especially for people and volunteers who don’t carry cards or have cash only to carry, Good luck getting attendance back next year. (Editor’s note: It should probably be repeated that the Medicine Hat Stampede has nothing to do with the decision, since Westside Amusements is the company behind the change.)

Ticked Off

That our MLA and Premier admitted it was OK to accept a ticket to Oilers/Vancouver hockey game from the B.C. premier. Now will she tell us who paid for her airfare and hotel to get to Vancouver? Did she pay for it, or did the Alberta taxpayers pay?

Ticked Off

Amusing how the Saamis Solar project was in the media the last few years being described as a project that was only to take up a few hundred acres on an old contaminated site. Now that it’s been approved, the cats out of the bag and it’s actually 1,600 acres that is going to take up prime riverfront development land. Sneaky they are. (Editor’s note: If it helps, the News reported the 1,600 acres somewhere around two and a half years ago when the figure was first announced.)

Tickled Pink

At the hardworking lifeguard we observed this past Sunday. My family was at Hill pool and we witnessed an amazing young man lifeguarding who jumped in to save two children back to back who were drowning. The lifeguard jumped in without hesitation, made the double rescue and really made us feel safe. I hope he gets acknowledged somehow.

Ticked Off

At all the people replacing their lawn with gravel. You’re contributing to climate change by taking out your lawn which acts as a cooling source and carbon sink. We need as much grass as possible.

Tickled Pink

Kudos to those wonderful community-minded folks who organized and sponsored the Family, Fun and Flight event. Medicine Hat is a better place thanks to you!

Ticked Off

“I love Alberta Beef”? I can’t afford Alberta beef.

Ticked Off

Reading up on some Canadian history about the depression nearly 100 years ago. Things haven’t changed much, Ottawa ignoring the west, Ontario and Quebec getting everything they want, and politicians promising everything to get elected. Racism running amok in the country. And as always, the rich getting richer and the poorest people are ignored.

Tickled Pink

To all you young people, put your phone down, and talk to your parents and grandparents about their life experiences growing up. Once they’re gone, those stories are gone with them, and it’s too late to ask them. You may learn something about yourself.

Ticked Off

Why does our city spend money on speed limit signs? No one drives the posted speed ever. On the highway, if you drive 80, people tailgate you then give you the finger and speed by you at 100. No wonder people complained about photo radar, because some must have received a lot of tickets. I vote to bring it back. It’s only a cash cow, if you speed.

Ticked Off

That is pure rubbish and you know it. I’ve spoken to the head of the hotel association, and we have plenty of accommodation to accommodate all people for a Memorial Cup. Just another excuse.

Tickled Pink

With our mayor who is honest and capable. Ticked off at our Trumpian premier.

Ticked Off

Just because a business allows dogs in their establishment does not mean the welfare of the customers ais in jeopardy. Use your noodle. The dogs are not running around off leash causing destruction. If you have a fear or allergy with dogs let the establishment know and I’m sure they will most certainly accommodate you.

Ticked Off

I can’t believe some people think Medicine Hat should grow. This spring every city along the Bow and South Saskatchewan river basin was considering water restrictions, and we were lucky the rains came. The world uses about 2 billion gallons of gasoline per year. Eventually at the rate we are going we will run out of gas and water. Growth is not needed, just the opposite.

Tickled Pink

Love going to all the local greenhouses for veggies. Just delicious.

Ticked Off

I’m so upset with the provincial Shop Alberta reservations, this site is so difficult,to manoeuvre, it is incomplete, and at times inaccurate. If you call, wait times are extremely long; twice when I have called I spoke to a call line in Tennessee and New York. I guess we have no Albertans to employ.

Tickled Pink

Naheed Nenshi was the most popular, non partisan, successful mayor Calgary has ever had. In 2015 he was the top mayor in the world. He served 4 terms and left Calgary in great shape. He returned to politics and chose to join the only logical party. He should be successful again.
