Ticked Off I can’t believe the city council has the audacity to cut the mayors wages by half ! We elected her at a given wage! Tickled Pink Now that Division Avenue South is getting a work over, it would be wonderful if a storm sewer catch basin at the top of the old Cemetery Hill could be installed to catch the water in this area so we wouldn’t have to drive through this water three times to get down to Kipling Street. She’s the queen of divisive rhetoric and dog whistle statements, but she’s calling on progressives to dial down? Does she have no honour? (That answer is self evident). While a Canadian bus driver who caused more deaths and injuries when he drove into the path of traffic on the Transcanada highway in Manitoba is not charged due to his injuries. Absolutely mind boggling that we will have a cup-worthy team, the building and the community support but not the ownership? Why on earth would they not pursue a bid? Any money they have to put out they would get back 10x! This is the time and ownership is sitting on their hands, like they always do. They have lots of land and I think it would be very worthwhile. I know the kids would love it. Ticked Off Rationalizing of how contractors are milking money from the city is not hard to see. The Altawana drive project does not take as long as it was scheduled to do. Any professional can see that if they just go and look at what they are doing. They could have finished that part of the project first ages ago, but again…it’s all about money. Tickled Pink I’m tickled pink that the acting Mayor Shelia Sharps feels as though the negative attitude towards our council begins externally. Perhaps she should look in towards the glass palace to see what’s happening there. Ticked Off Ticked off that someone feels the need to close down streets for events like chili cook off. We have such beautiful green spaces and a Towne Square where these events can be held. For the love of god stop closing the streets for events. Ticked Off Ticked off that our sweet, not-so innocent Premier calling out others on name calling. Let her phrases begin by Canadian taxpayers. Ticked Off Please encourage coyotes to come into the subdivisions as they discourage deer. Deer can jump 12 feet which means they can enter any garden they choose and destroy the plants. (Editors note: Get those deer to the Olympics in Paris, it’s time to dominate the high jump.) Ticked Off Ticked off all premiers want federal gas tax to disappear! Where might they suggest we collect taxes for roads and all provinces wants and needs? Provinces pay your bills in Ottawa more than half of that debt is from all of you! Want interest rates to drop? Then housing rates increase more. Then rent increases. Premiers step up and cap rent increases. Alberta, stop stealing from our municipalities. Taxpayers are paying for all 3 levels so listen to us not your ideology groupies. Ticked Off We need rent controls . Avenue Living is taking over the rental market in this town , it is such a big company it can overwhelm everyone else. Pay a little more for units. Then raise the rent 20 per cent and every year after that. Interest rates are still low in comparison and do not justify this. It is just greed. And try getting your damage deposit back if you want a clean rent report. I was a landlord and had a great rental agency, with great tenants. Ticked Off Highway 3 twinning was supposed to start every year for the last three years and when it didn’t we were always assured the section from Burdett to Taber would still be completed by 2025. I hate to tell you but 2025 is less than six months away and I don’t think they are going to be able to live up to the promises that were reiterated over and over. But then the UCP hasn’t done most of the things they promised so why should we be surprised. 47-46
