Tickled Pink That someone was finally smart enough to ban cellphones in the classrooms. Best thing that could have happened. Ticked Off We really need a company that knows what they’re doing to fix Box Springs Boulevard. That road is so patchy and uneven that you have to drive with caution. The continuous ‘band-aid’ fix is not working. For a newer road, it looks and feels terrible while driving on it. Tickled Pink Conspiracy theory? Fact! Everybody knows TOTP is controlled by the Reptilian Shapeshifters and the NFL. (Editor’s note: I feel seen.) Tickled Pink Poilievre does not read the NSICOP report because he is the Leader of the Official Opposition, and if he does, his hands are tied. He cannot ask questions or hold the government to account if he reads the report. The other party leaders do not have as important of a role as the Leader of the Opposition and therefore have read it. Former NDP Leader, Tom Mulcair, who has also been Speaker of the House, supports Poilievre’s position on this. We have an opposition doing its job rather than bowing to public pressure. Ticked Off So sad to see the coulee native flowers and grasses taken over by crested wheat grass and downy brome. Tickled Pink That punk/metal festival last weekend was awesome. I get that it was loud, and it wasn’t for everyone by design. But the folks who complain about “nothing going on” in this city should embrace having events of any kind. Plus it drew lots of out-of-town bands and fans who might come back and spend money here. Ticked Off Is it time yet to admit that weather forecasters have no idea what they are doing? (Editor’s note: Imagine if we treated economists like meteorologists when they don’t correctly predict the future.) Ticked Off At a big-box chain that apparently supports local small businesses fairly, but no matter how many hoops you jump through, only give referrals and priority service to the same one or two large companies. Ticked Off Taking my dogs for a morning walk in the neighbourhood, there were two piles is doggie doo-doo in the middle of the sidewalk. People, get off your butts and clean up after your dog, you are giving us that do a bad name. Ticked Off With classroom cellphone ban. Oh great, another law. When will we learn? If cellphones are causing children such harm, why not punish the parents who got them? Or better, why not teach (gasp) children how to avoid the harmful aspects? Like liquor, if we hide it from them before age 18, what happens when they’re out of school and have no supports? (Editor’s note: I can call around but I’m pretty sure kids can’t drink liquor in class either.) Tickled Pink To see wildflowers along the path outside St. Francis School. Scarlet Mallow, butterfly plant, prickly pear cactus, umbrella plant are all in bloom now in mid June. Wild onions are nearing the end of their bloom time, and hairy golden aster is just beginning. Moss and lichen fill the spaces between the wildflowers and native grasses. Truly an amazing continuity with the past and future. Ticked Off Taking my dogs for a morning walk in the neighbourhood, there were two piles is doggie doo-doo in the middle of the sidewalk. People, get off your butts and clean up after your dog, you are giving us that do a bad name. Ticked Off I can’t seem to find a place that shows how much rain we have had on a given day. There are all kinds of weather apps but they don’t show it. Years ago Channel 8 showed daily rainfall and accumulated for the month, but I can’t seem to find that information anymore. Tickled Pink We are so fortunate to have great price-point, fresh, high quality, locally grown produce from our Hat and Redcliff greenhouses. Tickled Pink The Alberta government’s “War Room” is no more. We were never at war and the name just demonstrated our government’s confrontational attitude. We are not fighting, we are trying to figure out how to deal with climate change. The UCP does not need to be confrontational and use that kind of rhetoric. Ticked Off It could be magpies and crows killing your smaller birds. I’ve watched them harassing and forcing small birds out of my yard, and seen them invading a small bird’s nest with eggs. Ticked Off Saddened by the sight of 60-plus (no number exaggeration) dead or dying coniferous trees, plus some sickly-looking deciduous trees in Leinweber Park. Does the parks department have any plan for rectifying this situation? Tickled Pink If folks who feel Harlow four-story build is good idea, go see the small plot of land, then visualize the size of proposed structure on it. The parking needed, traffic, congestion off First Street and TCH, and noise. Imagine yourself as their existing neighbours. Certain you’d object, too. Need to come up with a more logical plan. 37
