Ticked Off How are we meant to grow the local pickelball club if the city continues to hire remote workers. Keep the money in our community. Ticked Off Roadway repairs needed on 16th Street SW. Appears the city infrastructure and works department cannot seem to focus on this high-traffic access for Hwy 1 and Hwy 3 from 10th Avenue and Hwy1. This roadway is in dire need of complete asphalt re-surface. Several thousand temporary repairs performed over the past 20-plus years and are quite visible as vehicles slalom themselves along the street. Ticked Off Tax increase for what, how come we the homeowners don’t get the free ride local developers get and the FREE tax incentives? Anyone who comes buys cheap utilities from our city. Give your head a shake. Calgary is cheap for taxes compared to Medicine Hat and there’s more services. Tickled Pink Thankful Veiner Centre is run by Unison. When city was running it prices were astronomical and membership was struggling. If you recall they were going to do away with what Harry Veiner intended. Ticked Off Mo-peds used by teenagers are a hazard. They drive like they are kings of the road. Not! Dash cams will come in handy. Ticked Off With the person that wrote we should leave CCP because Trudeau endorses it. That reminds me of an old saying, don’t cut off your nose to spite your face. Ticked Off How’s about the Alberta government takes a pay cut instead of our precious teachers? We need education and health care and it should be well paid for. We don’t need the UCP lining their pockets. Ticked Off Ummmm hello, the traffic control on Parkview drive is necessary due to the increased flow of traffic while Altawana Drive is being resurfaced. Otherwise it would be out if control. If you don’t like following traffic rules, stay home as you are a menace on the roads with your impatience. Ticked Off Wow, how can you even print the comment by the uneducated writer referring to Trudeau as a person involved with CPP? He has nothing to do with it. However, the province gets the APP, you can bet your bottom dollar Danielle Smith’s fingers will be in it for sure. Do not opt out of the precious CPP, which is not government managed. Do your homework people. Tickled Pink So how about that bobcat that’s been roaming our streets? He’s a well fed animal, lock up your bunny. Tickled Pink I would be if the UCP would take a page out of Saskatchewan government book. They are hiring doctors and nurses in that province, no wonder we are losing our medical staff, they are moving to more stable, organized province that cares that health care is essential. Ticked Off You voted her in, people. Now look at our education system. We used to have the best system in Canada, now we’re among the worst. Yup, blame it on our present premier as she has thrown away all our good resources – health care and education in the toilet. Shame on her, and those who voted her in. Tickled Pink If you don’t understand why the traffic control at Parkview Drive and 12th Street is required, maybe just say that. Just because you don’t understand it, doesn’t mean its unnecessary or a waste of taxpayer money. In fact, I would argue that safely detouring a major traffic route in the city to complete essential water and sewer construction is one of the best uses of taxpayer money we could ask for. Ticked Off It’s really tough to teach children how wearing a helmet can save your life, when we all see adults riding motorized ebikes, motorized scooters, etc. without helmets. They all have motors. What kind of message are we sending our kids? I suppose the only way they will learn is when an unfortunate accident happens. It’s only a matter of time. Ticked Off When will the city realize that the current library is in the wrong location and does not have the facilities needed by most library users (seniors and mothers with children)? It has become a social work centre and should be repurposed as such. The city should get a business group to build a new library for permanent naming rights. Ticked Off It amazes me that conservatives like to blame the world’s problems on Trudeau. These are the same people who go to the polls and blindly vote for the conservative candidate. It is why Smith ran here and why we have the political representatives we now have. Yikes. Ticked Off Every time I see Trudeau I think, next time I am going to vote for one of those trucker convoy guys. We will be way better off. Ticked Off That, at Strathcona Park, very few of the available picnic tables are wheelchair friendly. Have to go through grass or red shale to access. Concrete paths all over, so a small strip to a few of the tables makes sense. Tickled Pink Some Medicine Hatters sound like Woodstock from the Peanuts cartoon. Ticked Off at Rise Up, Ticked Off at manned traffic control. As Woodstock would say: Waa Wa Wa Wa Waaa Tickled Pink I think this column could help me find the club I am looking for. I am against vaccination, anything the federal government wants to implement and clean energy. I am for coal mining in the Rockies, underfunding health and education. Wait! I live in Alberta. Forget what I said. Tickled Pink With the service at 20/20 Vision Care. I’m an older, mobility challenged person who went for my bi-annual eye exam and am so appreciative of the patience and kindness of everyone at 20/20.You are a great team. Ticked Off At the UCP government regarding cuts to education. Meanwhile, we pay more education tax. While I have no problem paying education tax, I do mind paying more when the government pays less. A good education is the future of this province. The UCP seems to cut where they shouldn’t and spend where they shouldn’t. Seems kind of backwards, but go ahead and keep supporting them and we’ll keep on losing. Tickled Pink To see our city’s municipal works department being able to keep the traffic flowing as smoothly as it has at the Parkview Drive and 12th Street intersection. What I thought would be a nightmare has been going very well during the closure of the Altawana Drive Hill. Tickled Pink To see our city taking accessibility and inclusion for everyone as an important part in community decision making. A recent trip to Lethbridge to watch my granddaughter compete in a swimming competition left me coming home frustrated when there was no place to watch her compete. Tickled Pink I liked the reference to PP in the last forum. He made wacko an acceptable word. Tickled Pink Amusing how the highway maintenance crews can casually tie up traffic at peak times on the Trans-Canada to do shoddy redundant work that often needs redoing. If our politicians actually did their jobs they would review these contracts. You are not entitled to weekends or evenings off when you only work four months a year. That goes for all employers. Ticked Off Why are people still watering lawns, etc. during and right after a rain? A healthy lawn needs to establish deep roots. They remain shallow with over watering. Buy a rain sensor for irrigation system, they’re inexpensive and save you money on waterbill. Commercially should be a new bylaw. Tickled Pink At the number of hot air balloons that graced our sky and the joy it brought to young and old. Love their passion and message for mental health. Disappointed the News didn’t use these gentle beauties on a front page where they deserved to be. Ticked Off The Alberta Government has just cut Medicine Hat’s education funding by $1 million for next year. However, they spent $7.5 million this spring trying to promote the Alberta Pension Plan. You can decide if this is a good deal. Tickled Pink Unison is a nonprofit organization committed to enhancing the lives of seniors. They took over operations of the Veiner Centre from the City of Medicine Hat. I have been a member since the opening in the new location and have seen the operations under both sets of management. The Veiner Centre has thrived under Unison’s management and membership has grown. They are caring and very easy to deal with. I cannot say the same for the management under the City of Medicine Hat. Ticked Off That common-sense conservative donations go towards court cases, mini vans, house keeping, school fees and salaries for staff. 63
