Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Feb. 22, 2024

Ticked Off

At the woman at the Tigers game this past weekend at the top of section G. The constant profanity was absolutely ridiculous and made a great game very unpleasant. The Tigers games are a family friendly event. If you need to swear and yell, stay home.

Ticked Off

While I admire and appreciate Sgt. Fishley’s advice for motorists regarding winter driving, I do have one comment. Without enforcement/consequences they are simply words. About a year ago I submitted to this forum asking drivers to remove all snow from their vehicles before driving to make it safer for all. It was not printed.

Tickled Pink

A gopher out in a snow-covered field in Dunmore on Family Day. A more reliable harbinger of an early spring?

Tickled Pink

When we can finally vote this mayor and council out. This has been the worst council I have ever seen.

Ticked Off

So our government is selling 800 drones to Ukraine for $95 million. That’s roughly $120,000 each. I just looked online and found the same drones for US$2,500. Even to make it war worthy, it can’t cost $117,500. If our government says they’re worth that much, we must have paid that much. Quite a markup for some company. I don’t think it matters which party is in charge, but quit wasting tax dollars fattening up company CEOs.

Tickled Pink

Don’t back down Danielle. Keep the pedal to the metal. The radicals always hate logic.

Tickled Pink

Wow, what an excellent documentary. It bought back many good memories. Loved that all drinks came in a recycled bottle and not a one-time wax-lined cup and plastic lid. Too bad some folks still litter the floor.

Ticked Off

The UCP should put all politician’s pensions into their own Alberta fund now and the public can watch and see how well they operate this fund in the future before they ruin the public’s pension fund.

Ticked Off

I don’t know what the criteria is to host the Memorial Cup but I would be surprised if Medicine Hat would qualify given the location of Co-op Place in relation to the vast majority of hotels, restaurants and other services. There simply wouldn’t be enough taxis to shuffle people from one corner of the city to the furthest opposite corner where all the services are. If our last couple of mayors and council would have supported building it where all the services are I suspect there would be a much better chance of being awarded the Memorial Cup. Very poor foresight by previous councils.

Ticked Off

At the Feb 20 TOTP “Elitist medical practitioners think they know everything.” It’s insane the hoops some people have to jump through to try and defend their hateful viewpoints. Consider for a moment that medical practitioners may know a thing or two about medicine – crazy I know. “Medical employees are not the ones who care about people.” You honestly believe politicians care more about people than doctors? I don’t.

Tickled Pink

“Why is water oozing from the ground above Brier Park Road?” That’s so interesting! Water? From the ground? A novel discovery indeed! We must think of a name for this. Waterground? Groundwet? Something like that maybe…

Ticked Off

That in our local MP’s winter session newsletter he does not mention the genocide against the Palestinians. He should be pushing for a ceasefire. Turning a blind eye to the genocide of 29,000 men, women and children is not very Christian, Mr. Motz.

Ticked Off

In response to the Tickled Pink regarding the ‘elitist like medical practitioners’, maybe you should better research the origins of your claims about medical mistakes created by these professions. The eugenics movement in Alberta came into practice after being pushed by the United Farmers of Alberta and became an official government act in 1928. Maybe people should learn from this and leave medical decisions up to medical practitioners and not politicians.

Ticked Off

Sorry people if you think this feature is a reflection on community opinions. The editor chooses the narrative he wants from submissions, no matter how he spins it. (Editor’s note: Shhhhhh!!!)

Ticked Off

Sorry, but Co-op Place will never see a Memorial Cup or curling events, even though we had lots of curling events at the old arena. The reason is, those who can actually make this happen, simply don’t want to put in the time and effort to do it. Sad situation but true.

Tickled Pink

Working with the land department at the city was a pleasure. We bought a lot for our new home. The process was simple and exciting. Hats off to the city for having great employees.

Tickled Pink

Getting close to getting my CPP. Just a side note: the younger generation may be paying in more but will be getting more for their retirement.

Ticked Off

Received $200 ticket today for not having my handicap sticker displayed properly. Was in the corner of my windshield, not hanging from my rear view mirror. Live and learn.

Ticked Off

That the federal carbon charge on my last utility bill was 24 per cent of the total. Justin Castro money grubber.

Tickled Pink

I would be if someone explained how watering garden or washing car wastes water. Water is infinitely recyclable. It evaporates and comes back as rain or flows downhill back to river. All we do is redirect it. How is it wasted? It isn’t destroyed. (Editor’s note: There will likely be some more scientific answers provided for you here but water use depletes the supply readily available for other use. Washing your car doesn’t “destroy” the water, but it isn’t going back to where we get it from either.)

Ticked Off

At this newspaper for bashing our Premier Danielle Smith all the time. It’s getting pretty old already. The NDP and Liberals are the one destroying our country. Danielle Smith is doing the best she can with the situation. The NDP just like to fear monger instead of helping. Time for politicians to grow up.

Tickled Pink

With the “Heritage in the Hat” column. The words and pictures enhance my enjoyment of the city. It adds a fascinating depth to living here. A greater connection. Thank you to all the writers of this column.

Tickled Pink

With the cartoon Zits in the Medicine Hat News. What mother can’t relate to that funny comic strip? And the mom is the best character in it!

Tickled Pink

Danielle keep going hard don’t be discouraged. You are doing everything right.

Ticked Off

With those of you who don’t pay attention to facts. Someone complained that having Canadian government run pension plan was not acceptable and Alberta government should run their own. CPP is not run by government. It is an entity in itself. That is why it is so great. You can move anywhere in Canada and still have CPP without a change. Governments, provincial or otherwise, have nothing to do with it.

Ticked Off

That according to Pierre Poilievre, a future Conservative federal government would require online personal identity verification for people to access certain websites. This is a terrifying precedent to set, and a gross overreach of government power. Imagine every aspect of your internet footprint being tied to your government ID. This should concern anyone who uses the internet for anything, period. Whatever happened to the party of small government and personal freedom?
