Ticked Off Apparently reducing penalties and removing criminal charges for impaired driving will lead to less DUIs? Really, since when has lesser penalties resulted in lower rates of crime? If you didn’t enforce impaired driving at all, you would reduce DUI charges to zero. Maybe we should try that strategy? If reducing penalties reduces impaired driving then no penalties should eliminate it altogether. Ticked Off Ticked off that the two skateboard parks compromise natural spaces; those areas need to be conserved or restored for the sake of nature that sustains all. A better location for the Crescent Heights skateboard area would have been on Fourth Avenue near the outdoor skating rink where there are no native species left, or the Family Leisure Centre where sports activities are centralized and washrooms are available. Ticked Off If reducing penalties for impaired driving actually works then maybe we could eliminate speeding by reducing fines to $10, and the same for distracted driving. I can’t imagine whose logic this was? Tickled Pink Tickled pink that there are many youth getting a lot of exercise and socializing in parks and open spaces. Ticked Off When residents treat the streets as their own personal parking lot. They either are ignorant to or choose to ignore that vehicles must move after 72 hours. Ticked Off Ticked off that, in the last 40 to 50 years, the grassland plain above the NECH coulee has been taken over by crested wheat. For generations before, the area was home to complex communities of native species including pollinators. Crescent Heights residents and schools enjoy the area for physical, mental and social health and for nature study along the well-maintained trail. I for one will stand up for them. What kind of society would we have if they didn’t maintain law and order? Do you realize what our police have to put up with each and every day? 17
