Ticked Off Considering Medicine Hat has the lowest average paid wages in Alberta, one would assume that MLAs Drew Barnes and Michaela Glasgo would be fighting to prevent outrageous auto insurance premium hikes, auto registration renewal increases, ballooning daycare fees and higher taxes. Tickled Pink The old Woolworth store on Third Street will be empty. It would make a great drop-in centre for our homeless. Lots of room for them to snooze during the day so I can enjoy the comfy chairs and nice views at the library! Tickled Pink I would love it if everyone realized what we have in our South Country Co-op. The booklet that arrived with the paper on Saturday told more than I ever knew about all the ways they help and support all southern Alberta up to High River. Ticked Off There are so very many homeless people in Medicine Hat. Affordable housing is needed. Greedy, greedy landlords and owners want to pay for their place 10 times over. Tickled Pink To find a card and Tim Hortons gift certificate on our front step from “Whabam” thanking us for our Christmas light display in Parkview Close NE. It was a nice surprise and very much appreciated. Thanks, Whabam, whoever you are. Tickled Pink Our local paper is finally being non-partisan towards pieces about our governments. Love the other side view. It’s just as our two MLAs are to be while voted in. Tickled Pink Rather than be upset with the editorial direction of the News moving to the ideological left I simply cancelled my subscription. It’s easy to do rather than complain and do nothing. Good luck to all in 2020. Ticked Off Happy New Year! Albertans have been kicked again by Justin “not my prime minister” Trudeau with a punishing carbon tax that was overwhelmingly rejected by the voters in the last election! Ticked Off The only people who could think the News has gone left is folks who’ve moved so far right they’re off the bloody map. It doesn’t get much more conservative than this. Tickled Pink I too have read Medicine Hat News for a long time and felt a “rightie” viewpoint often. So another reader felt a “leftie” viewpoint. That means to me the News is fulfilling their responsibility and presenting news as it happens not as our bias prefers. Tickled Pink I chuckle at the complaints over the editorial bias of the News. If you don’t like it, don’t subscribe and don’t support their advertisers. It’s not like you’re helpless victims in this. Money talks! Ticked Off The Tetris Championship was shown on TSN. Is Tetris considered a sport? Tickled Pink I am very glad the holiday season is over and I can get back to my regular activities and regular TV. The season is nice for a while, but I am happy to have my “real” life back! Tickled Pink That those who received new free light bulbs and shower heads from the energy program last year are beginning to see the cost. Ticked Off At all the negative comments regarding leftist comments in the News. It is refreshing that after living in this community for 70-plus years and being afraid to express my progressive viewpoints without censure – including fear of losing my job – I can express my beliefs publicly. Tickled Pink If our finance minister would arrange meetings with the credit rating bureaus to explain how increasing Alberta’s deficit, putting thousands of current taxpayers on unemployment and decreasing Alberta’s focus on diversifying our economy should viewed more positively. 33
