As a member of the Bipolar Disorder community, I try to advocate for both my mentally ill brothers and sisters, and the kinds of values we should all share as a society. This week I fortunately, or unfortunately, get to do it again in response to a recent comment in the Medicine Hat News. A ... Read More »

cgallant@medicinehatnews.com@CollinGallant In the world of southeastern Alberta, where it’s often said that self-reliance, ingenuity and get-to-it spirit are second to none, no where no how, it looks like Lethbridge is again eating what we’d like to order for lunch. So it’s Christmas time again. I don’t know about you guys but to me it seems that our last Christmas was a million years ago! So much has transpired over the past 12 months and it is like time was in slow motion. I feel like I actually lost a year somewhere. However, having said ... Read More »

A story this week highlighted data released by the Ministry of Children’s Services showing 34 deaths since April 1 among children, youth or young adults receiving government service intervention. That total equals the record set in the fiscal year of 2020/21, and with four months before April 1, there’s little doubt a new high will ... Read More »

cgallant@medicinehatnews.com@CollinGallant Hatters are right to worry about an eventual loss of British Army Tank training at CFB Suffield. The News broached the subject last spring and was accused of being a sour puss, but this week reports that the British Army was ready to close the base entirely was met by a sort of non-denial ... Having just returned from an election where I heard from many in our communities, I listened intently to the Throne Speech hoping to hear about jobs, affordable living, combating excessive inflation and securing the future of ...
