Letter: Patriotic gesture from group of young gentlemen went a long way

Dear editor,

I live in the Southview area and I want to share my Halloween treat.

A group of five or six young gentlemen (Grade 6’ish?) approach my door. Upon opening it, they began singing “O Canada.” I was deeply touched by this gesture. When one young man expressed his love for Canada, I reciprocate his sentiment.

They explained that they had seen my “Forever Canadian” sign and Canadian flag, which prompted their decision to sing (I’m not sure if it was in hopes of getting more candy, which may have worked).

I am genuinely at a loss for words to fully convey the profound impact this interaction had on me. Parents, you deserve a huge pat on the back, these kids were fantastic.
