Dear editor, We are a group of advocates with disabilities. We are worried about Alberta separating from Canada. If Alberta separates, we will lose important federal programs such as CPP-Disability, Canada Disability Benefit, our Registered Disability Savings Plan contributions, native affairs payments and federal education grants for students with disabilities. Health-care programs will not have to follow federal rules tied to transfer payments for public health care, education and social programs. If Alberta must spend money to set up police services, immigration and citizenship systems, currency and an Alberta pension plan, there is less money for social programs like AISH/Income Supports, disability services, aids to daily living, housing, addictions, mental health and health care for everyone. Interprovincial health-care agreements would need renegotiation. People could lose access to specialized medical care and unique programs in other Canadian provinces. Will those of us born in other provinces have to move back to them?” Members of Albertans Advocating for Change Together 9
Maybe the 30 billion that the province gives away to Ottawa would cover that
You do know thats a lie created by Ralph Klein donât you?
Those of us from the world of finance arenât dumb enough to believe it.
When a reporter asked Klein why Alberta was broke when Norway and Alaska werenât he told him that it was because Alberta had to send billions of dollars to Ottawa and Quebec in the form of Equalization Payments. Alberta doesnât send a penny to anyone in the form of equalization payments.
This is why we have been cheated out of $1.2 trillion and the Norwegians and Alaskans havenât :
â Royalties Down 32% Billions in Federal Revenue Lostâ.
Make certain you google it.
Donât worry Alberta wonât separate we know Alberta canât survive without Ottawaâs hep. Four million people canât provide what forty million can especially when you have an economy thatâs as unstable as ours due to the up and down oil industry.
