Dear editor, Often when elected members speak, percentages are used to support their political position, but can the facts be substantiated? MLA Wright stated in the Medicine Hat News (Feb. 18), the Cypress Courier (Feb. 25) and another local paper “more than 60% of the province does not agree with solar and wind power.” I question this value. To satisfy my curiosity I contacted Mr. Wright by email to have him verify this number. In response Mr. Wright admitted he was unsure and he sent a request to the Minister of Energy and Minerals ( Brian Jean) and Minister of Environment and Protected Areas (Rebecca Schultz). Later, I received a response from Mr. Wright. However, it provided an unrelated survey titled, Government of Alberta, Public Opinion Research on Coal Policy. Obviously nothing to support Mr. Wright’s claim. His office apologized for “the confusion.” Next I reached out to the two ministries where Mr. Wright had forwarded my concerns and I have yet to receive a response. Does no response equate to no answer? When politicians give information, is it based on fact, or are the numbers created to support their political views? I am still waiting for clarification from Mr. Wright and/or the other ministers. Dennis Buchko Medicine Hat 12
Have you noticed Dennis that these Reformers refuse to disclose the results of any of the surveys they conducted because the results weren’t what they wanted. Instead Smith is hoping Poilievre gets elected so he will help her steal our Canada Pension Plan, kick out the RCMP and eliminate the $170 million Ottawa pays Alberta to help pay the cost of their services. That will be added to our property taxes. Like Klein did with his privatization insanity.
Lawyers warn us not to help her get Poilievre elected or you will likely lose your Canada Pension Plan.
I noticed that too. The UCP are good at that, because they are ashamed of the survey results.
We both know how many ignorant seniors there are that are more than willing to let them destroy their Canada Pension Plan they are already paying the highest power bills in Canada, the highest property taxes, the highest vehicle registration fees the highest vehicle insurance premium are are so dumb they don’t care .Can you imagine the whining if they lose their CCP? .
