Letter: UCP’s meritless plan for wild horses will decimate a group that has roamed for 400-plus years

Dear editor: We cannot allow the Alberta government to proceed with a planned cull of 30 Alberta Mountain Horse stallions and the contraception of 90 Alberta Mountain Horse mares, rendering them infertile for up to five years or possibly longer. They have not provided sufficient evidence related to our province and these horses to substantiate the need for such drastic measures. Experts and scientists say these measures are completely unwarranted, reckless and irresponsible, and will lead very quickly to the extinction of this ‘unique to Alberta species’ that has roamed our foothills for more than 400 years. It’s time for Albertans to speak up, before it is too late! The government has been completely lacking in transparency regarding this issue. Many thanks, Maxine Forrester Edmonton 10-9
Hardly a day goes by without them upsetting some section of the public. That’s what Reformers do they aren’t ever interested in looking after the well being of the people, and it’s a well known fact that they are hellbent on destroying everything past conservatives have created for the good of the people.
