Dear editor, There are Hatters who believe the accomplishments of city council over the past two years merits blind faith in their decision-making capability, and innuendo is a perfectly acceptable way to undo the democratic will of citizens. Such individuals aren’t likely going to try to rationalize the need to redact the names of the two elected council members identified as the complainant and respondent in a city-funded report used as a tool to subvert voter intentions. These residents are perfectly happy to describe Hatters who think otherwise as a handful of rabble-rousing troublemakers and utilize that characterization to minimize the harmful impacts of decisions made by this council. Let’s hope most Hatters support democratic principles, reject the way council has acted and demand a fulsome defence of their actions instead of contorting provincial legislation in a cowardly fashion to shield decisions made on our behalf.
