Letter: Day surgery unit deserves all the praise

An absolute huge shout out goes to all the nurses, other professionals, support staff and Dr. Jena, all of whom who worked day surgery at Medicine Hat Hospital on Monday, Dec 7.

With everything that is going on related to the pandemic and all of the stresses that add to each and every one of our lives daily, the day surgery was found by me to be full of patience, kindness and true care and concern for those of us who were treated there that day.

I have little doubt that it is quite like that most days, but I witnessed and experienced it on that day personally.

Everyone was polite, attentive to my needs and so willing to go the extra mile when explaining to my chaotic mind what was going on as it related to my surgery.

They created a sense of calm and wellbeing there that was very noticeably different than what I had walked in off the street from.

So, thank you all for, while working through this time of added anxiety and uncertainty as you so professionally did.

You made the day surgery unit on that day a “safe haven” for me.
