Letter: Remember, this too shall pass

By Letter to the Editor on December 8, 2020.

A lot of the Mental Health Community seem to be hanging on by our toenails, so it seems. Operating in crisis mode and taking life day by day.

As the days get shorter and shorter more and more people are suffering from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) – most people get this in the winter from too little light. I get it in the summer from too much light. It is a time for most of who are used to dealing with mental health issues to dig in and use our self-care techniques.

For me this is music, there is no mental health issue for me that can’t be cured by watching a good opera, thank goodness for streaming services. Of course, finding the right self-help technique can take awhile to perfect and on some days it will take a while to get to the right one. I find it best to take it one day at time, one hour at a time and one minute at a time, depending on what particular horror I am reliving at the moment.

Let us all remember though this too shall pass.
