Power lies with politicians, corporations while the people suffer

By Letter to the Editor on January 24, 2020.

In early history royalty acquired all the land, made the laws, lived in fortified castles and gold-lined palaces, referred to themselves as kings and queens and lords of the manor and conscripted armies from their subjects to fight other kings and queens for world supremacy.

Today it is still about who is in charge. Kings and queens, politicians, corporations or God? It seems like it’s an uneasy alliance between the political and corporate worlds with one seeking all the power and the other all the wealth, knowing full well that with one comes the other. Helping each other while trying to defeat each other for supremacy. Meanwhile it is the subjects who suffer.

Mac has it right. Too bad so many of our fellow seniors don’t get it. But as we all know for some reason many seniors are easy to fool, con artists make a living doing it, and Jason Kenney does also. This guy was a Liberal, became a Reformer and is now pretending to be a Conservative, will do anything or say anything to keep living off the taxpayers money and it’s working well for him. Did closing hospitals, closing 1,500 hospital beds, cutting 5,000 nursing positions make our health care system a lot better , as Klein promised it would? Did deregulation make your power bills a lot cheaper as Klein promised it would? Some how giving these seniors the highest property taxes in Canada , highest power bills , highest liquor prices, highest utility fees, highest vehicle registration fees, second highest property and vehicle insurance premiums, highest long term health care fees etc, made Klein their hero, so now they’re thrilled that Kenney is making things even worse, and they wonder why us seniors question their sanity.Cutting corporate taxes for his rich friends has given him the excuse to cut our children’s jobs, where is the intelligence in that?
