Gun control wasn’t much help in officer shooting

By Letter to the Editor on December 11, 2018.

The extremely expensive half-billion dollar gun control program failed to stop one police officer from shooting another. Not only did this officer have a long list of violent infractions against civilians he also reportedly had a long-running dispute with the officer he shot.

He is unlikely to face the same punishment someone who is not paid to wear a uniform would face. I guess Canadian taxpayers do not get what they pay for.

Any federal gun control program is doomed to fail. Law abiding folks will comply but the criminals will not. Why waste billions of dollars going after law abiding citizens who are not the problem?

Laws need to go after the root cause and that is gangs and crooked cops who run rampant.
