I hear a lot of people speak poorly of the Medicine Hat Police Service. People talk of being unfairly treated when receiving a ticket, being pulled over without just cause or have some other rant. I know people who hate the police, fear them or are just annoyed when they see them. Over the course of the past month and a half, I have had more dealings with the MHPS than I ever would have imagined. I try to always be a law-abiding citizen. Recent events in my life have led me to need the assistance of the police on several occasions. They have come to my door, taken detailed reports and had me come to the station as well as meeting me at alternate locations. They changed my flat tire in 30 C heat to help me get to safety and even gave me a $20 bill they caught blowing down the street. I have been in direct contact with at least eight officers during this time period. They have all been very professional, compassionate, and detail-oriented and have instilled confidence. The situation I find myself in is extremely scary and potentially life-threatening but the police and the resources they have available have been extremely helpful and reassuring. Thank you to all of the Medicine Hat Police Service for going out each day and doing a wonderful job to make our city a better place. Crystal M. Good to hear this positive side. Now if they would just stop pulling over young drivers for no reason and then finding infractions after the fact. That is where they lose the respect of young people.
