Some thrown ‘under the bus’ with transit change

By Letter to the Editor on August 29, 2017.

Public transit plays an important role in social cohesion, helping people, especially those on low income, access to education, work, recreation and health care.

It appears the city has taken a survey on where the budget should be cut and made decisions based on the survey. My question is “who responded to this survey?” Was it a true representation of our population of each low, medium and high income residents? Was the quality of life of the low-income residents taken into consideration? Our mayor and councillors have thrown the low income residents “under the bus” so to speak with the new transit routes. Our mayor and councillors must be held responsible for this decision to remove evening and weekend service to so many residents.

Shame on them for forgetting the less fortunate in our society!
