Tickled Pink The letter to the editor from doctors regarding MAiD Track 2 was full of facts and points necessary to understanding how the UCP government is simply wrong. The only other item missing was the rather misleading statement made by Inclusion Canada in a previous article about this provincial legislation. Ticked Off Once again Education Minister Nicolaides puts his foot in his mouth. Claiming an Albertan education is world class is just grandiose, but then stating schools cannot make statements “outside their purview” negates the UCP stance, especially Premier Smith’s, re: professionals and their opinions. Ticked Off Why not just have a citizens vote on if we want a property tax increase or if we want the councillors to make cuts? Because the answer will be a resounding no to tax hikes and yes to cuts. Oddly we, the electorate, let it happen. Very sad. Where’s the responsibility here? Will it ever end? I challenge councillors to end the increases. Tickled Pink Say yes to the 6.1 per cent tax increase, or continue to deplete our reserve fund til it is empty. Ticked Off Just found out my doctor is a smoker yet has the nerve to chastise me on my lifestyle. What a hypocrite. Ticked Off The editor told us they won’t print TOTP posts more than a couple of sentences or that they have to shorten or edit some but the editor’s note to some posts can run on far longer than most posts but that’s OK. He gets to express his opinion in full but we don’t. (Editor’s note: Ah, the mysteries of life, hey?) Ticked Off Or maybe just puzzled how a tea at a local school can make the front page, but an historic event such as a moon shot doesn’t? I support the idea of featuring local news, but, seriously? Tickled Pink What a great send-off for the Cubs team. Thanks to police, RCMP and fire services for escorting the bus. Small-town pride at its best. Ticked Off I can’t believe the Alberta government is lowering the threshold for seniors benefits. With inflation as bad as it has been it should be indexed to increase with inflation. Seniors are generally the least able to go out and find additional sources of income like younger people, and are left with no alternatives. The UCP should be ashamed of themselves. Tickled Pink I feel 67,000 guns off the ‘market’ is a good thing not to be dismissed. Those owners felt it was time to get rid of them. Do this ‘buyback’ every few years. It’s a good plan to lessen likelihood that some of these guns might end up on the streets. Ticked Off Very fed up watching the Tigers games on Victory+ when they play a commercial for a hotel with the most annoying sound in the background. No voices or anything after grinning and bearing through their commercial, they loop it and then you get to watch the darn thing all over again. Ticked Off So responding to a TOTP about ‘…the insanity hiding among us’, in reference to the recent election of Avi Lewis for the NDP. So it is completely insane to want everyone to be able to afford groceries; for all citizens to have a home; to tax the rich; to implement a guaranteed basic income and to rapidly transition from fossil fuels to save the planet. Such insanity. Ticked Off Cut garbage pickup to monthly. Isn’t recycling that we’ve been doing for a decade cutting down on garbage? Lethbridge, Saskatoon are doing this already. (Editor’s note: I think you might mean bi-weekly, not monthly. At least, that’s the system Lethbridge and Saskatoon use.) Ticked Off As I suspected with the announcement for the new section of Highway 3 to be twinned, it won’t be as soon as promised. The original announcement said shovels in the ground in 2027, now they are saying tenders will be going out late 2027, so will be surprised if there are shovels in the ground even in 2028. Ticked Off What is the problem with a few deer running around our neighbourhoods? We have a few skunks, a few porcupines, lots of feral cats, a few badgers. Can you imagine if we had lots of cougars, bears, squirrels, moose, raccoons? You should build bigger fences around your castles. Ticked Off Alberta now has the lowest minimum wage in the country. Something our premier is proud of. Totally out of touch with the people she represents. Shameful. Ticked Off Let’s face it, folks, our relationship with the U.S. has been forever destroyed courtesy the orange man and his gang of thugs. Any future co-operation must benefit Canada. Stay strong and free. Tickled Pink Thank you for the colouring and puzzle book. Ticked Off Smith and her party need to be held accountable to soapbox promises. Don’t re-elect. Ticked Off Provincial government in schools, libraries, city halls -way off base. Ticked Off The UCP government should be ashamed of themselves for cutting benefits for those least able to do anything about it or change their situation – AISH and seniors. I know the editor doesn’t like it when I criticize the government so will be interesting to see what sarcastic “editor’s note” I get this time. (Editor’s note: Mostly I just want people who’ve met me to see this.) Tickled Pink I challenge anyone and everyone, with the time and ability, to watch Pierre Poilievre’s appearance on “The Diary Of A CEO” podcast. It is available on YouTube. No spoilers, but it is brilliant. Ticked Off It is hard to understand conservative right-wingers’ disdain for socialist ideals. The happiest countries in the world are social democracies. We should be more like them not less, but maybe we want to be unhappy. Ticked Off The premier and UCP are showing their blatant hypocrisy by playing victim when it comes to the Ottawa’s powers over them while at the same time usurping power from municipal governments. It’s clear she wants power over every aspect of our lives. The definition of totalitarianism. Ticked Off Let’s quit going on about pipelines. Let’s face it, the U.S. controls us. We pay $7 for a gallon on gas, they pay $4, and we produce oil. Yes, it gets refined there and sold back to us, that’s understood. You can’t solve the price difference, Premier, you drop your mighty oil nonsense. Fix the health care that you turned into the ultimate mess. 51
