Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, March 19, 2026

Ticked Off

Planning and development is so hard to deal with. I’m going to build outside of this city.

Ticked Off

At some of the local afternoon radio DJs here, it’s like listening to 10-year-olds.

Ticked Off

NE Crescent Heights is overrun with deer and nothing is being done about it as they destroy our yards.

Tickled Pink

What’s that word for people who have all they need and still insist on wanting more?

Ticked Off

Once again we’re at that time of year when smokers get to enjoy their balconies while the rest of us are stuck inside with all doors and windows closed. Smoking causes fatal diseases in non-smokers.

Ticked Off

That oil and gas companies are allowed to get away with not paying their property taxes. If you go to renew your driver’s licence and have outstanding fines/tickets they have to be paid first or you don’t get your licence.

Ticked Off

Why is there talk of allowing urban chickens when we are in the midst of an avian flu outbreak? We have truly serious matters to occupy city council’s time. It will be a drain on city administration’s time to draft a bylaw for an issue for which only a small portion of our residents campaign for.

Tickled Pink

We do not need another board to oversee our rates and set them. That is why we vote in council, hopefully they are given the right information to make decisions.

Tickled Pink

With bike lanes on major streets. We go fast. Don’t want people, pets, signs and obstacles. We are road cyclists. There is another group of cyclists that are new to biking and like the slow, barely walking pace and meander along on paths. Two very different groups. Tough job for the city to navigate.

Ticked Off

At the “fraud prevention month” article. Not one resource provided. No phone number. No web address. Searching for such info often takes you to more fraudulent material. Why doesn’t a trusted source like the Medicine Hat News include it? Reporters used to be much more thorough. (Editor’s note: Um… resource, web address and phone number to what? It was an article with tips on how to avoid internet scams. There is no website or number to call here. If you suspect a scam, probably try the police.)

Ticked Off

When the editor cuts part of your submission out for no reason. I would like the whole thing submitted and it

Ticked Off

It appears Israel and Donal Trump are trying to start World War III by pressuring other nations and states to participate in a war they started without prior consultation and justification. So sad Trump is disappointed with the lack of support.

Ticked Off

That the city keeps raising our taxes to finance the bad decisions they have made on how they spend our money.

Ticked Off

Likely Danielle Smith, former oil company consultant, will find a way for taxpayers to foot the bills of oil companies defaulted on payments to landlords and municipalities. My solution is create a law similar to the Proceeding of Crime, then go after former CEOs and executives of the default companies. I am sure they walked away with a pocket full of money before declaring bankrupt.

Tickled Pink

I could not be more Tickled Pink and I am beyond grateful to Dr. Heinrichs and the entire surgical staff during my day surgery last week at the Medicine Hat hospital. This includes all the pre-op, surgical and post-op staff. The level of care and consideration I received could not have been any better. My experience is an example of the great health-care providers we have in Medicine Hat. The health-care system itself may be broken, but the providers most certainly are not.

Ticked Off

Cyclists, mopeds, motorized wheelchairs, golf carts, I’ve seen it all on busy roads. They all should require insurance. To pedestrians who have hoodies over head and ear buds, look when crossing the road. As a motorist we see you, do you see us? You’re being reckless, drivers aren’t mind readers.

Tickled Pink

Rick Simpson is flying free now, he was a former Medicine Hat Tiger. A quiet, unassuming, strong man. He played for us with heart and grit. RIP.

Ticked Off

I can no longer sing the national anthem. We are no longer the true north strong and free.

Ticked Off

Enough with urban chickens. If you want chickens, move to the country. You aren’t saving any money once you pay for the food, the birds, the coop and all the expenses you will have when they get raided by wild animals. Keep the hens in the country.

Ticked Off

I think I would be more willing to listen to the Alberta separatists’ point of view if just one of them could put two sentences together that were grammatically correct.

Ticked Off

The feds are going to court a third time to fight against its citizens with the unconstitutional use of the Emergencies Act. They have unlimited resources using tax dollars while we must crowd fund for lawyers to represent taxpayers.

Tickled Pink

That greed and misuse by oil companies are finally being made aware to taxpayers. They’ve been pulling wealth out of the ground, often left without reclamation that’s now being paid for by us, and no compensation to municipalities, while UCP’s rose coloured view of them did nothing. Finally willing to address holding them accountable to millions they’ve skipped out of in past payments. these should be pursued, reimbursed in part if not whole, as well as going forward with any future drilling. Their free ride needs to end.

Tickled Pink

That the era of oil and gas pillaging is drawing to an end. Companies have made fortunes yet not paid a quarter of a billion in provincial or local taxes. After making their money they leave the mess, ignoring responsibility of reclamation, which we then pay for. Time to pay the piper.

Tickled Pink

Congratulations to Venezuela’s win in the World Baseball Classic, made even more wonderful by beating the U.S. in the final game.

Ticked Off

Obviously the damage caused from Iranian missiles is going to be paid for by the U.S., perhaps the world will be asked to fund the rebuilding of Beirut and Lebanon. Thank you, Mr. Trump, for your attention.
