Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, March 3, 2026

Tickled Pink

And proud to see all the beautiful Canadian flags flying from houses in my neighbourhood. There seems to be more and more every day. I counted at least 12 within a three-block radius on my walk this morning.

Ticked Off

That parents are not giving their teen drivers good driving education. Too many accidents are happening and that’s an indicator that parents expect their kids to learn by experience. At ages 16 to 19 you should still be involved in their driving on highways and side roads.

Ticked Off

Will the city ever make a decision on the old Arena as to whether to tear it down, or will it just sit there and rot?

Ticked Off

In regards to the Stampede grounds, would it not be more feasible to repair the grandstands rather than dump a bunch of money into something that’s only used a handful of times per year?

Tickled Pink

Tip: Never make snow angels in a dog park.

Ticked Off

And now the ‘forgotten corner’ without airline service. Listen to the footsteps of any businesses that thought about opening here racing to cancel any opening plans they had for Medicine Hat.

Tickled Pink

That transit operates on Sundays and statutory holidays. I’d be even more tickled if free transit were offered on those days to boost ridership for all days.

Tickled Pink

I’d also be tickled if MH Tourism would provide guides for city tours on regularly scheduled bus routes, especially on statutory holidays and some Sundays. That would be a low impact way of touring the city while encouraging increased ridership.

Ticked Off

WestJet stopping operations is not a surprise. They set it up that way, and the city’s Economic Development people played along and never countered it. But hey, we have more car washes and Starbucks.

Ticked Off

Where is this city heading? No more flights out, no TV station, city council and management spending like drunken sailors on roundabouts and solar projects. Time to get out.

Ticked Off

The city is not planning to buy airplanes and take over operations from WestJet. How are we supposed to get to Calgary?

Ticked Off

Danielle Smith and Justin Wright showed up for a town hall meeting last week. The following week saw postings to TOTP favouring them. I wonder how many of those were written by Smith and Wright.

Ticked Off

Premier Smith changed the requirements so the separation petition almost couldn’t fail, it would have been nice if she would have done the same for recall petitions which have a much higher bar and almost impossible to meet. (Editor’s note: She did make it easier, that’s how a third of the legislature ended up facing a petition. She drastically lowered the number of signatures required, too. It’s possible people don’t see endless byelections as a viable solution to their grievances.)

Ticked Off

I bet a lot of us voted for the UCP thinking we’d get fiscal conservatives that would right the ship, but instead just ended up with separatists that leave us with bigger deficits than the NDP. Remember that come next year’s election.

Ticked Off

If the UCP is determined to sell more oil to the U.S., stop waiting for the federal government or industry to foot the bill. Use the Heritage Savings Fund to finish the line and start selling more oil for less money per barrel as world prices spiral in decline. How broke can we be if we have billions in the bank?

Tickled Pink

That my wife and I have gotten into the habit of (almost) daily walks together. Exercise, time together without our devices and nature/people watching all make for an enjoyable habit that’s also good for us!

Ticked Off

You want AI, fine. I don’t agree that its presumed.

Ticked Off

I hope doctors keep the pressure on Smith, we need your expertise and our province needs to listen loud and clear to what the professional health-care team is saying.

Ticked Off

And so disappointed in our college hosting Rebel News and especially Tamara Lich. Do you ever stop being so unhappy and having to cause a disruption in our world? If I’d known there was a For Canada group protesting, I would have been there.

Tickled Pink

That the Medicine Hat Mall is going to bring back registration for sports all in one place. Thanks to the nice person who made this happen.

Tickled Pink

Kudos to Medicine Hat College students who organized, rallied and made signs to protest Rebel News (entertainment) on their college campus. Shame on the Medicine Hat College board and administration renting Rebel News (entertainment) a space for lies and misinformation to be disseminated.

Ticked Off

That separatists focus on equalization and ignore that the federal government sends Alberta billions dollars each year (i.e. Health and social transfers).

Ticked Off

The attack on Iran by the U.S. is nothing more than a distraction from the fact the president of the U.S. is a demented pedophile who is afraid to testify under oath about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

Ticked Off

Why can’t the city standardize all busy intersections like at the bottom of Dunmore Road? On Strachan, the light by Toyota dealership and Catholic church, turning right to get onto 13th Avenue you have two lanes going straight through. Change that to right-turn only. Again you have drivers that for whatever reason need to use that lane to go straight, blocking the majority of drivers who want to turn.

Ticked Off

So many Albertans have voiced displeasure with Danielle Smith’s style of governing but she still doesn’t get it. She continues to spend tax dollars like crazy but not on anything that matters most to the people who reside here. This government is leading our province down a slippery slope.

Ticked Off

For those asking why it’s so expensive to fly, question any of the air carrier why their pilots got 30-50% raises this past year.

Tickled Pink

Kudos to the Big Marble Go Centre! What a great place for Medicine Hat citizens.

Ticked Off

The threshold for seniors benefits is dropping nine per cent. Maybe our MLAs should take a nine per-cent drop. What a disgusting way to treat vulnerable people.

Tickled Pink

Kudos to Lethbridge city council for listening to and supporting their community members. The council voted against ADAP and voted for writing a letter to the UCP government regarding AISH. I certainly hope our city council is taking or willing to take action.

Ticked Off

We knew Bruce McAllister was a bully as a supposed moderator during last year’s Alberta Next meetings, but now he has proven himself to be a racist. Last week he wrote on platform X comments regarding immigration and sorts of immigrants. His preferred kind of immigrant adheres to his image – poorly veiled racism in my book.
