Ticked Off

Floor crossing in the political arena shouldn’t be so easy. You were elected by the platform you represented when elected. Crossing the floor is not fair play to voters. New rule, sorry no floor crossing, you need public opinion. Get back in your lane and on your soapbox and let the voters decide your fate.

Tickled Pink

At the Heritage in the Hat articles. Always informative and well written.

Ticked Off

That many regular contributors to TOTP are hesitant to expand on their bullet-point opinions by choosing the Letter to the Editor option. Of course, that would require one to slither from the level of comfort and bravery associated with anonymity.

Ticked Off

Kudos to CBC Calgary radio for providing important news stories about Medicine Hat. Thanks to CBC for informing me about the return of British forces to Suffield (a major impact on MH) and the placing on hold, the city initiative to narrow roadways and expand pedestrian walkways. Yet, sadly, not one word of this is mentioned in the MH News. (Editor’s note: Couple quick things – Collin Gallant, the CBC reporter who wrote that story, is Medicine Hat based, not Calgary, and he’s been a reporter here for 20 years, so he’s quite tapped in to local happenings. Absolutely kudos to him for breaking that story, which is more that some troops and some defence contractors will conduct drone training in June and July, and less ‘British forces return to Suffield,’ but a solid get from Collin for sure. As for placing the Transportation Master Plan on hold until the fall, you must have missed the story on the front page of the paper the day after council voted on it, not to mention the multiple stories leading up where we reported that it was likely to happen. Anyway, happy reading.)

Ticked Off

I’m sorry our premier is not sitting in her office in Medicine Hat all day waiting for you to come in to complain that she doesn’t think like you. She has the entire province’s wellbeing in her daily concerns and is the hardest working premier I have ever seen. There is no doubt she has put Medicine Hat on the map for Albertans, whether you like her or not.

Ticked Off

The college is allowing divisive political parties to rent their facilities. The Alberta Teachers Association should not be allowed to host their convention at the college. Shame on you.

Ticked Off

After all Premier Smith has done to promote separation and the referendum, if it fails she should resign and call an election immediately.

Two years or more advertising ‘Alberta is calling,’ now immigration is a major problem. A classic flip-flop.

Tickled Pink

To all the recreation therapists in Medicine Hat. Happy Recreation Therapy Month (Feb.)! Therapy through recreation.

Tickled Pink

To Jordy, who is always dancing at every Tigers game! You bring so much fun energy, and we look forward to seeing you on the jumbotron each game.

Ticked Off

At our small-minded Alberta government placing blame on immigrants for failed health care and education policies. Most immigrants who come to Alberta work and pay taxes. It’s easy to blame someone else for the UCP’s mistake. We need immigrants to help make our province grow.

Ticked Off

That we have freedom of speech, if agreeable or not. However, when other learning and community facilities have turned down this controversial, unreputable divisive group; our publicly funded community college does not need to accommodate them, especially when Higdon Hall or any other location could easily have been selected.

Ticked Off

Separate from Canada so we can be another Puerto Rico with no voting power? No Canada benefits? I honestly think people believe the grass is greener over there instead of working to improve our way of life in Alberta, Canada.

Tickled Pink

We have federally paid paternity leave in Canada versus U.S. which has only up to 12 weeks unpaid leave. Are Albertans prepared to lose paid paternity leave?

Ticked Off

Why a costly referendum with nine questions? Make this your platform, run on it and call an early election in October, that way you save money and if you win with a majority you have a mandate to proceed. Much better than a referendum that will be filed if it doesn’t say what is desired.

Ticked Off

The proposed UCP referendum questions are the same as the separatist talking points. Coincidence? I think not. It is coercive persuasion by a party that is elected to represent all Albertans.

Ticked Off

GIS for those who are low income is a federal benefit, not a provincial benefit, for those that receive OAS. Separate and kiss both goodbye.

Ticked Off

At people who steal.

Ticked Off

I guess Premier Smith thinks if we add a bunch of nonsensical questions to the separation referendum it will be confusing enough people won’t understand what they are actually voting on. A referendum for separation needs to be one clearly written question on separation, and that’s it.

Ticked Off

Premier Smith’s seeming complete mismanagement of pretty much everything in the province is what’s caused the mess we are in, but as always she is looking for anyone else to blame but herself.

Ticked Off

Pretty sad display by the men’s curling team at the Olympics. Kennedy should have been disqualified for his conduct, instead he gets a gold medal. He knew he got caught and instead of apologizing for breaking the rules he aggressively goes after the person who called him out. I guess they’ll have to start using video replay because of a few who break the rules and won’t own up to it.

Tickled Pink

We are so fortunate to have a premier like Danielle Smith. I will definitely be voting ‘yes’ on all nine referendum questions.

Tickled Pink

I have my landline and a cellphone so I can receive double the number of scam calls, thus double the fun.

Ticked Off

I am a longtime Alberta PC/UCP supporter, but what is going on today is pathetic.

Ticked Off

That our provincial government continues to ignore the nearly half a million Albertans who signed the Forever Canada petition. Explain to me why the separatists’ petition would reach referendum status and not the one opposing this idiocy?

Ticked Off

Anyone thinking separation is a good idea, search ‘what happens to Alberta Registered Charities if Alberta separates’. Please stop this separation nonsense.

Ticked Off

If I understand correctly we now have 300 MW of generating capacity with peak demand only ever having reached between 180 and 190 MW, and now we are spending $131 million to add an additional 75 MW of generating capacity? Sure doesn’t seem like a prudent use of public money.

Tickled Pink

A huge shoutout and thank-you to St. John’s Church, organizers, all who attended, knowledgeable speakers, Mr. Jim Groom and Elder Eldon Weasel Child from Siksika Nation, who participated in a wonderful celebration of Canada on Saturday. I look forward to the next event.

Ticked Off

Think Tim Hortons in the future shouldn’t be located on main arteries, as turning lane holds up traffic for those just trying to go to work.

Tickled Pink

If one data centre provides 1,000 jobs to Olds then Medicine Hat should build 20 of them. Let’s get growing.

Ticked Off

Danielle Smith could cure cancer and negotiate world peace and there would still be those calling for her to waste money and call an immediate election. Give her a chance to try things, we got a pile of issues. Election is next year.

Tickled Pink

To get cucumbers from local greenhouses again. So tasty, beats store bought ones.
