Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Dec. 4, 2025

Ticked Off

Premier Smith best not take boos at the UCP’s AGM lightly. Her reckless abuse of power and waste of taxpayer dollars needs to stop before Alberta is totally ruined. No health care, no pension, no transparency, no advocate for what Alberta wants. (Editor’s note: In fairness, she was really only booed for not further fanning the flames of separatism.)

Tickled Pink

With the survey questions that the News asks; they are usually quite relevant and provocative as they are based on the current issues. I also find the responses quite interesting and feel they are generally representative of the perspective of Medicine Hat’s population, that being centrist if not left-leaning politically. Funny though how we elected two right-wing crackpot MLAs.

Ticked Off

Gone are the days of the fiscally responsible yet socially aware PCs. The UCP has made it clear they are a party that supports causing undue hardship to those with severe handicaps, a party that opposes personal freedoms and the Charter, and a party that promotes the destruction of the natural environment in the Rocky Mountains for profit. I cannot in good conscience support this. In the next election there must be a change.

Ticked Off

With the separatists within the UCP. You will drive the centrist voters over to the NDP. They will win the next election. Congratulations.

Ticked Off

With 4,500 anti-everything citizens attending the UCP annual conference. At least educated Albertans got a three-day break from all that nonsense.

Ticked Off

More sad really, that U.S.-style hate politics is blossoming in Alberta. We are better than that. At least, we used to be.

Tickled Pink

I was so impressed with Linda Hancock’s column on the weekend that I cut it out and put it on the fridge. Of course, now I’m sleeping in the garage – brrrr.

Tickled Pink

We are fortunate to have such an outstanding local newspaper. Thank you to all who work at the Medicine Hat News.

Tickled Pink

I really hope there is a petition out for Smith.

Tickled Pink

With the places that keep Christmas lights on all night. It’s great you are willing to endure the expense to spread cheer to those dedicated people who need to be up through the night and into the wee hours. As a former shift worker, I appreciate that very much.

That the premier keeps adhering to U.S. vile objectives, now passing anti diversity, equity, inclusion education or training. This is so incredibly backward and destructive for the quality of our province’s education. Will she never cater to progress instead of her 27% grassroot dinosaurs?

Ticked Off

To correct the “Editor’s Note” regarding the twinning of the section of Highway 3 between Burdett and Taber, the expected completion date now may be fall 2026, but when the premier was asked on more than one occasion why construction had not started sooner she admitted it was delayed but assured us it would still be completed by 2025. (Editor’s note: “We’ll actually see construction happening this year, which will be fantastic, and then hopefully be completed next year between Taber and Burdett,” said Danielle Smith on Mar. 7, 2024. Tough to categorize that as being “assured it would still be completed by 2025.”)

Ticked Off

Don’t worry about the thousand layoffs at Algoma Steel, members of management got millions of dollars in bonuses! Great job yet again Carney, you lied about protecting Canada’s steel industry, and it was all foreshadowed by Trudeau when he pondered about why Canada even has a steel industry.

Ticked Off

Reinstalling Trudeau’s good buddy Marc Miller proves the Liberals are committed to recycling trash.

Ticked Off

At some of the drivers here. Pull so close behind there wouldn’t be room to walk between. I don’t know about anyone else but I like my car in the condition it is now! (Without the rear end caved in).
