Ticked Off It is laughable that the queen of separation is accusing Premier Eby of not being part of Team Canada. Is she part of Team Canada? Does she permit energy imports from hydro sources in B.C? Let’s hope any project B.C. doesn’t want is shot down with a notwithstanding dictum as is so common in UCP land. Tickled Pink That our PM is letting the big yellow one “stew in the juices he has brewed.” Attitudes in the U.S. are shifting and I would bet we can only benefit by letting it occur without us disturbing it too much. Ticked Off Premier Smith using the notwithstanding clause not just once, but twice is a total miscarriage of Albertans’ Charter rights. An election needs to be called in Alberta as abuse of power is Smith’s motto it seems. Premier isn’t speaking for Alberta. Ticked Off That curling has been taken over by “professionals.” Used to be a person from some small town or unknown city player could represent Canada on the world stage. Now it’s just another overexposed sport that has lost appeal with the grassroots people. Ticked Off If Canada was truly “anchored in the rule of law” the entire Liberal party would be in prison. Carney now wants to mess with trillions of dollars of our pension funds. Are you waking up yet leftists? (Editor’s note: Any ‘messing’ with pension funds is bad for sure, but for the record, the entire fund is $777 billion.) Ticked Off Human rights belong to us all, and should not vary from province to province. The use of the notwithstanding clause is a gross overreach from our UCP government, and the fear of not bringing these harmful bills before the courts speaks volumes. Tickled Pink To all drivers who remove all snow from their vehicles (including the roof), before you drive, thank you. Tickled Pink To the library for throwing on these free music events this month and it was great to see the mayor show up last Saturday for this. I had to say a big hello and appreciation to her for that. Ticked Off Mark Carney saying, “who cares” when asked about getting a deal with the U.S. is just beyond sick at this point. The U.S. is our neighbour, our ally and by far our most important trading partner. People voted for Carney to work with Trump and he has failed miserably. Tickled Pink Because I recently moved into a condo and the company was there not once but twice for the first snowfall of the year. Now that’s good service. Ticked Off To the person who states that we have “free” health care, you should be aware that 53% of all tax revenue collected in Alberta is spent on health care. Unless you don’t pay taxes, health care is definitely not free. (Editor’s note: Could be a typo on your end, but it’s actually 35%, not 53.) Tickled Pink At the amazing turnout for midnight madness. It was an absolutely wonderful event for everybody. Downtown events are absolutely fantastic. Keep it up. Ticked Off The next time you go to vote for “fiscally responsible conservatives,” remember the $109 million in wasted taxpayer money for the failed government attempt at privatization of lab services. Ticked Off Now our premier thinks the surge in recall petitions may involve foreign interference. I have always wondered if China and Russia were interested in what goes on in Airdrie, Alta. Ticked Off To be clear, Giant Tiger put out statement in 2020 that it planned to gradually close all stores in Western Canada. Head office is in Ottawa. So, even though we have a thriving store it gets the axe. Several locations in Manitoba, Sask. and elsewhere in Alberta have also closed in past four years. Tickled Pink First major snowfall of the year and kudos to the City of Medicine Hat crews, a job well done! Tickled Pink Happy the News files our MLA’s Report under the ‘Opinions’ section as he just spouts ‘government facts’, but perhaps the News should also consider a Science Fiction section as not sure what planet he’s on. Sheesh, Mr. Wright, get a grip. Maybe reality will sink in once a recall petition is filed. Ticked Off So the UCP thinks the solution to the shortage of doctors working in public health care is to… incentivize doctors to do private work instead. Sometimes it feels like every decision this government makes is specifically designed to screw over average Albertans. If you can’t afford private health care, now you’ll have to wait even longer to see a doctor. Ticked Off Good luck renewing health cards. Three times I’ve sent a letter requesting a new card. Not only have I not received a card, they don’t even send a reply. Ticked Off Now the UCP want us to renew our Alberta Health Care cards, another ridiculous plan. Concerned about non residents using ABHCP, then ask for photo ID. Tickled Pink We have the best News delivery in the city. Thank you to Rita in the Harlow area, who has been with us for many years. Merry Christmas! Tickled Pink Well written letter on Haves & Have nots in two-tier health care! Be careful, could be another MLA on the block if they don’t send Smith packing. 45
