Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Nov. 11, 2025

Ticked Off

Alberta appears to be broke. We can’t pay our teachers, our health-care and government workers. Government mismanagement? Not enough tax? I don’t know but please show some leadership. Fix it, or call an election so we can find someone who can.

Tickled Pink

Excited to read about the partnership between MHC business administration students and high school students from Prairie Rose. The collaborative learning competition aims to strengthen essential business and interpersonal skills. Practical activities like these are so valuable to everyone involved. This type of work is much more important than using funds to continually test students.

Tickled Pink

Was tickled to hear a Nova Scotia MP crossed the floor. I wish our MP would do the same.

TOTP

Not really a TO or TP. Although we are getting a tax increase of 5.6%, places like Sudbury are getting a tax increase of 5.7%. MH isn’t the only place seeing these types of increases.

Tickled Pink

With the city providing public sand boxes. That stuff works much better than salt and it works right away. And the city’s mix is much better than just sand, which is too fine. Thank you.

Ticked Off

Too many people don’t get the bargain that private education is for taxpayers. Families that attend pay 100% of education tax but only receive maximum 70% instructional (there are two tiers and other unpaid expenses). Without them the public would be in even worse shape.

Tickled Pink

At the very kind people who help seniors with yard work and getting their homes ready for winter. Medicine Hat is truly blessed to have these individuals.

Ticked Off

If Alberta cannot afford to pay education and health-care workers a fair wage then they need to increase taxes or royalty payments. So do it. Otherwise figure out some other way. A stalemate with these workers is not acceptable.

Ticked Off

With the person who wrote university educated teachers should be easy to deal with. What? I know a lot of people who attended university and are very difficult to deal with. University does not necessarily create better humans.

Ticked Off

That oil companies, having made their money, get our premier to defer our tax dollars to pay for their cleanup mess. Yet Smith blindly refuses to fund public education and health care, for which we do pay taxes toward. What a disgraceful farce her ‘leadership’ has been.

Ticked Off

I spend a great deal of time removing all snow/ice from my vehicle before I drive. Then vehicles fly by me with only the windshield wipers activated to remove some snow. The rest will blow off in the wind, supposedly. Am I doing something wrong?

Ticked Off

Not bargaining “in good faith” is not democratic. The teachers’ association was asked to state what they wanted, which they did. You start from there and negotiate. You do not ride roughshod over these rights with the notwithstanding clause.

Ticked Off

That MLA Justin Wright can’t get his facts straight. Did he “misunderstand” the information he learned in his meeting with RCMP and the county, or is he fitting the facts to his narrative in an attempt to bolster the idea of a provincial police force that his government has been told no one wants?

Ticked Off

UCP isn’t listening to Albertans. Why elect a party who ignores?

Tickled Pink

Shopped downtown looking for something different. I was thrilled with everything I bought from moody $5.99 lip balm to the most gorgeous Liverpool jeans. Also found some skin care serum made from bees. I also checked out the sale items, some fabulous finds on those discount racks. Local doesn’t mean expensive, local means keeping those stores open and keeping the money in the community.

Ticked Off

Teachers striking for more classrooms and more teachers is typical union behaviour. They always want more union members and less work today. If more classrooms were truly needed why are two schools closing in our city? Clearly management has decided less are needed.

Tickled Pink

Great job, Medicine Hat News, on reviewing the ballot counting process. Thank you.

Ticked Off

That our local MLA spouts off inaccuracies about the RCMP failing to respond to what turned out to be a dead body in a vehicle on July 8. He should make sure his facts are accurate before he spreads these damaging accusations, which were nothing more than an attempt to promote his agenda. Par for the course for this man.

Ticked Off

How can MLA Wright get everything wrong instead of right? Where is he sourcing his information, Facebook?

Ticked Off

The province is considering increasing speed limits on divided highways. Have they never heard that speed kills, which numerous studies have confirmed? There will an increase of deaths and serious injuries, which I am sure first responders are not looking forward to. Who is asking for the increased speeds, and why has this become an issue when there are more important ones?

Ticked Off

MLA Wright is not supporting his riding regarding health care. He’s the premier’s puppet. Motz is no better either.

Ticked Off

Our MLA should be recalled. Goes to the legislature without knowing the truth. He should be gone.

Ticked Off

At 2 p.m. my deck was in the shade. Last week it would still have been in the sun. Why can’t we just stay on Daylight Saving Time year round?

Ticked Off

Bought a package of pork side ribs from big chain grocer. One slab of side ribs. Tucked underneath was a totally different cut pork rib tips. A much lesser cut cooked longer than side ribs. Why do butchers do this? They don’t stuff chunks of stewing beef under a T-bone steak.

Ticked Off

Our voter turnout displays an effortless majority. Voting is up to all, it’s your chance to voice who you would like to represent our province.

Tickled Pink

Thanks to the city for managing the election in a cost effective manner. Who really needs to get the results in one day or four? The outcome doesn’t change. But maybe next time, run the ballots through the automated scanners and deliver “unofficial” results that night. The official count can wait.

Tickled Pink

Medicine Hat News front page article on MLA Wright wrong about damning RCMP story. And he is not reachable for a comment while travelling back from Edmonton. Get the man a cell phone.

Ticked Off

Driving south on Fourth Avenue SE. What a bump in the intersection. It seems it’s a big speed bump. Covered in white snow it’s invisible. Might be an idea for California but not a place with snow. Hopefully vehicle is OK.

Ticked Off

Medicine Hat News wanting to know if we the general public would support teachers striking yet again. No no no… A generation of lazy people who do not know how to work and don’t want to work do not need the public’s support. Thank you. (Editor’s note: Maybe don’t look into the results of that poll, as not quite everyone who voted feels the same way.)
