Ticked Off News headlining utilities well below average, isn’t going to save City Hall’s deserved low public opinion. (Editor’s note: OK, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t true) Ticked Off Mark Carney and the Liberals’ first 100 days – inflation up, deficit up, unemployment up, tariffs up, bankruptcies up, migration up, crime up and the new catch phrase should be: “Elbows down, white flag up.” Tickled Pink I am so pleased Canada is being headed by a smart man who understands economics and is not running the country on whims like the United States. Carney is our best choice. Tickled Pink Now that there is no photo radar on Parkview Drive I can go 70 to 80 km/h. Tickled Pink If I could afford it, I’d buy everyone in Medicine Hat who is still crazy enough to take a COVID shot as many doses as they want. Why is it the people who are terrified of COVID are the ones who’ve been “vaxxed” against it? (Editor’s note: Why is it the people who are terrified of a COVID shot and didn’t want to be told what to do with their bodies are the ones still so worried about what people do with their bodies?) Ticked Off Booked a COVID vaccination “appointment” on the first day it was possible. Now will have to pay for the COVID-19 vaccine. Maybe there should be a political tax credit for supporting UCP “ideology.” Ticked Off So, 72% of News readers won’t order a COVID vaccine for themselves, which could result in them getting COVID and passing it on to the rest of us. And ‘we’ can thank ‘Deadly Smith’ for this result. Shame on UCP for their deadly choices for their citizens. (Editor’s note: In fairness, the percentage of Albertans who received a COVID shot last year was just 13.7, according to the Ministry of Primary and Preventative Health Services.) Tickled Pink As far as I know Canada is one of the best countries in the world, period. By what measure was Trudeau’s term a disaster? It wasn’t. And why do separatists think they can make things better? They can’t. Tickled Pink That I rode my bike and drove my full-size SUV on Division Avenue on the same day and didn’t have an issue with either one. The bike ride was pleasant, and turning on and off Division was never an issue with my SUV, because I turn properly. Ticked Off While we should be vary concerned that the Nova Scotia government is banning citizens from strolling in their forests, it is even more concerning that they have set up a snitch line to report your neighbours, and that people would use it. That is a dark path we have been down before in history. Ticked Off With those who leave hitch balls attached. On four-door trucks they stick way out in the driving lane. It takes just two minutes to pull the pin and put it in the truck or vehicle. It is a real hazard in parking lots. It shows the laziness of the owner. Ticked Off With the government’s new COVID vaccine suppression strategy, the premier is breaking her promise to never de-list any services or prescriptions previously covered in Alberta. Ticked Off What has Danielle Smith done for Alberta? Good question. I have a problem coming up with an answer. Is there anything? Maybe questioning whether we should be a province or a country? What a waste of time. Ticked Off Horse crap. City council. Remuneration is based on merit. Clearly not the case. Shall we hash over the last several years? Unreal to even be considered. (Editor’s note: Just for the record, it will be the next council to get the raise, and while the News doesn’t have any inside information to disclose here, one might surmise based on public outcry during the past term that not everyone in a current council role is going to be back.) Tickled Pink At the person who think the Liberals need to “take a knee” and let Conservative policies take over. Actually, it’s the people that lose the election that take a knee, just so we’re clear. The losers (Cons) take a knee, and the winners (Libs) implement policies. Carney is doing a fine job, maybe you should try leaving your echo chamber and touching some grass. Ticked Off At scammers. Make up a secure word that only you and your family knows. Set one up with your bank, etc., and if you get a scam call they will have to supply you with the secret word, if they can’t give it to you then you know it’s a scam. Protect yourself and your family, be safe. Ticked Off The Longest Ballot activists say they are only looking for change in the electoral system, but why do they only go after Conservatives that are not in power to make the changes? Maybe other motives? (Editor’s note: The Longest Ballot movement actually began before this last federal election, with a somewhat failed attempt to disrupt the 2019 ballot in Andrew Scheer’s Regina riding. Following that however, were three byelections from 2022-24, all sparked by vacating Liberals, before finally taking over the ballot in Pierre Poilievre’s Carleton riding this past spring.) Ticked Off The stock price of Brookfield Corporation was on the decline. Carney becomes prime minister and the price of the stock is up about 50 per cent already. Our money is going to companies owned and affiliated with Brookfield. Ticked Off Can’t ever recall our prime ministers blaming their predecessors for past issues, but Trump and company do it on a daily basis against Joe Biden to cover their own errors and mistakes. Never seen so much disrespect from the leaders. Tickled Pink Looking into the candidates running for city council has been eye opening. While some candidates have well thought out ideas and intricately written blog posts, others seem to just repost rage-bait political slop on their social media. I implore everyone to do your research before you vote in October. Tickled Pink With the proposed raises. The incoming mayor and city council should not get a higher wage than is on the books (What they have now is too high). Most people in this city are low income earners and are lucky to get up to 25 cents an hour raise. $225,000 raise for the mayor and $75,000 for council is outrageous. (Editor’s note: OK, so the person who told you this is either not great at numbers or unsure how commas work, because it’s actually $22,500 and $7,500. Can we all have a discussion on whether that is proper or not? Of course. Can we talk about whether elected officials should make $159K (mayor) and $53K (council)? Absolutely. But the way information travels in this city sometimes is nuts. The current council is not giving themselves a raise, and it’s not hundreds of thousands. We can debate how much councillors and the mayor will make moving forward, and as a resident myself, I don’t think it should be outrageous. But I also want it to be worth the job so people who might know what they’re doing will still run for office. It’s a discussion worth having, but the discussion deserves factual information.) Tickled Pink I would like to thank the young man who alerted me that my Yeti cup had fallen off my vehicle. Thanks to him I found it. 45
