Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, July 31, 2025

Tickled Pink

I love airplanes and flying but last time I agreed to change seats they put me on the wing.

Tickled Pink

A huge thank-you to the wonderful and kind group of seven 18-year-olds at the rides at Stampede! Standing in line for Rock Star ride with my daughter and grandson, he’s five and really wanted to go on this ride. They heard us telling him we would have to wait another round for the front for him. These lovely young adults gave up their front seats so he could have the best experience. Biggest smile after and a fist bump from those great kids. Their parents should be so proud very proud of them. I know I was!

Ticked Off

The City of Medicine Hat mayor is not allowed to focus on “opinions and insights” during the State of the City address (according to the municipal inspections report) but the provincial government can do that any time it wishes.

Ticked Off

That everyone will take the shots for travelling to countries yet those same people complain to take a COVID or measles vaccine. Talk about double standards to suit your issues.

Ticked Off

Donald Trump gets a $1.5-trillion deal and we get a discount on a bridge toll to P.E.I. What a joke. Want to ruin an area, just put Liberals in charge.

Ticked Off

You have to be smoking something to call Trump “fantastic” and Mark Carney “useless.” It’s hard to believe there are Canadians who support the absolute horrendous things Trump is doing.

Tickled Pink

I know it’s over an done with, but it should be said the changes to Division Ave S. look great, and are great for the safety of pedestrians. Having a wide multi-use trail connect the college to downtown is an amazing benefit to our city. The red brick and fresh asphalt and concrete look wonderful, and its great that cars are driving slower, increasing the safety for everyone. We need this type of design to continue. Well done, Medicine Hat.

Tickled Pink

According to conservatives in this column, Carney is simultaneously too incompetent to make a deal with the U.S. but is also secretly flushing all business down south to benefit his investments. It must be exhausting constantly tripping over yourself to make up lies so you can continue hate the prime minister. You should find something more substantial to be outraged about, like the fact that Trump is on the Epstein list.

Tickled Pink

To all the hardworking volunteers who made the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede such a success, especially the two ladies who, despite the work load, made sure volunteers were fed daily and created an incredibly inviting, warm and positive environment!

Ticked Off

Again, Danielle Smith really doesn’t care. A recent new tax on B.C. wine shows how money hungry she really is. Every other premier is trying to increase interprovincial trade and she has done this. Let’s see if she has enough smarts to immediately remove it.

Tickled Pink

Two pet groomers from Medicine Hat did us proud at Mastergroom recently. Second place in one class, honorable mention in another. Way to go, girls!

Ticked Off

I was shocked to read their thinking about a new campground down by the Medalta. Isn’t that area around the creek a flood zone? Bad idea.

Tickled Pink

Our first visit to AHS Emergency since we retired here six years ago. My 75-year-old wife slipped and fell on her back on our slippery patio steps as we were leaving for our morning walk. With all the patients showing up with various issues, three ambulances arriving, patients with emergency referrals from their doctor and the local police showing up with a handcuffed injured man, we were there for 5.5 hours. X-rays completed, excellent attention from triage nurses, volunteer staff checking to see if water/blankets needed. The doctor and nurses from inside were fantastic. A great shout-out to our local hospital.

Tickled Pink

Letter to the editor regarding Alberta Pension Plan was right to the point. Albertans have spoken already to not go away from CPP, so why is Smith continuing to pursue it?

Ticked Off

We don’t need another set of traffic lights on Dunmore Road and 28th Street. Simply eliminate left turns. The cost of a couple signs is a lot less than traffic lights.

Ticked Off

Replacement of the North Grandstand at the Medicine Hat Stampede has now become important to the provincial government, but meanwhile Alberta is going to begin charging residents a fee to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Ticked Off

If city council and the dysfunctional mayor stepped down. I have three people (so far) with senior level governance expertise who have said they would run for council, but only if the current inept council removed itself. (Editor’s note: Did you ask your friends why they’d impose such a condition when the term ends in 81 days?)

Ticked Off

That UCP government uses taxpayer money for “bonuses” paid to upper management government employees for just doing their job. There should be no bonuses at the taxpayer expense.

Tickled Pink

Would be if council address the city’s remote-worker concerns. Let’s bring back some of the jobs currently filled by people out of the city or province. Let’s keep these tax dollars in our community supporting local businesses.

Tickled Pink

By Deion Sanders’ willingness to come out and speak very openly about his bladder cancer and encourage people to get screened.

Ticked Off

I was surprised to read Alberta has the highest wine pricing in all of North America. Alberta’s Champion For Free Trade, the premier who now allows U.S. liquor to be sold in this province, is also the Champion For Additional Taxes. Those on wines from B.C. are excessive. Don’t expect another oil pipeline from Alberta to B.C. until one is first created to carry tax-free wine in the other direction.

Ticked Off

Another tax/tariff upon boaters across Alberta is being debated among the let’s-get-rich UCP. When does it stop? I don’t ever want to hear how NDP/Liberals over charge taxpayers.

Ticked Off

Most people have figured it out by now. We don’t have a prime minister, we have a businessman using Canada to expand his own interests, uncaring of the Canadians who will suffer along the way.

Ticked Off

Yes, Ottawa downtown was dealing with honking day and night. A) I have relatives who had to deal with it due to the home location and B) If it never happened then the lawsuit the businesses and residents would not have occurred.

Ticked Off

Trump is being hard to deal with because he wants Canadian resources, thus Canada. Doesn’t take much logic to figure this out.
