Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, May 20, 2025

By Ticked Off - Tickled Pink on May 20, 2025.

Ticked Off

I just had my first experience driving on the newly renovated Division Avenue. It is absolutely terrifying to negotiate around the wide brick intersections. How longer vehicles can safely drive around those corners is beyond me. Do not build even one inch more of this traffic nightmare. Whose idea is this?

Ticked Off

Mark Carney will immediately allow byelection for Pierre Poilievre. Danielle Smith has yet to let Naheed Nenshi run. What is up with that?

Tickled Pink

It seems Premier Smith is worried the separatist side of the UCP may want their own party. They seem to be controlling the UCP anyway. Let them go and bring back a real conservative party.

Tickled Pink

Have to laugh. If those anti-separatists who are constantly bashing Smith here think Canada is such a great country, why do they seem so scared? Seems to me, a referendum on any issue (separation in this case) is the most grassroots of democracy that they’re always whining about. If a referendum happens, they’ll still complain Danielle Smith is a dictator.

Ticked Off

Motorcycles are not loud to compensate for what you’re lacking elsewhere. They are loud so you know I’m behind you or beside you and you don’t make those stupid driving errors like cutting me off and forcing me into the curb or ditch. Medicine Hat has some of the worst drivers, no signalling, shoulder checks, texting, or lane changes. So yes, my bike is loud knowing you’ll notice I’m beside you to allow me arriving home to my family safely.

Ticked Off

At all the smokers around the entrance of a local nonprofit. Every time I go there, the same people are standing by the entrance smoking. I have to hold my breath.

Ticked Off

If pedestrians and cyclists would use the crosswalk lights installed on 13 Avenue SE at the trailer park. Ninety-five per cent do not use it and cyclists routinely blow through. Might have to start carrying clean underwear in my vehicle it scares me so bad.

Ticked Off

Separation means no federal transfer payments, therefore Albertans would need to pay higher taxes.

Ticked Off

I am tired of the poor Alberta separation stance. Albertans needs a government that cares about all Albertans, not just oil and gas. We need a premier who cares about health care and education. We need a premier that can bring new business into Alberta.

Tickled Pink

I just finished reading Canadian author Terry Fallis’ political fiction. It was a great read, highly recommend it.

Tickled Pink

That Peter Guthrie and Scott Sinclair are aware of what a conservative is. Now, please breathe new life into a Alberta Progressive Conservative Party as it is sorely missed. Thank you for representing your constituents so well.

Ticked Off

I’m frustrated by the constant stream of online complaints from keyboard warriors in this town who hide behind their screens to criticize our municipal development. Real people – our neighbours – work hard in city positions, and they deserve respect, not online abuse. If you’re genuinely concerned, show up to public forums and engage in face-to-face constructive conversations. That’s how real change happens.

Ticked Off

That we are still waiting for the justice minister to declare a conflict of interest with regards to the ‘corruptcare’ investigations.

Tickled Pink

That our city has this venue to vent about concerns (to a reasonable extent), but ticked off that some people abuse it for personal attacks on others.

Ticked Off

I wonder how Danielle Smith is enjoying the $280K red carpet taxpayers bought her. Most people would feel shame.

Ticked Off

The AER says it has approved Northback Holdings Corporation’s coal exploration project at the Grassy Mountain site on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains. Who is here to protect my family when our water gets contaminated?

Ticked Off

Disappointed and frustrated with the way City Hall is conducting itself.

Tickled Pink

To know if anyone is surprised the government has approved Grassy Mountain. In Brian Jean’s words, democracy has spoken. Are boiled water warnings to be the new norm?

Tickled Pink

With the staff at Crestwood Pool. Katherine and Kerry always greet you with a smile and go above and beyond being helpful. Marla and her crew make Aquasize fun, and you leave with a smile on your face, ready to start the day. Thanks to a great group.

Tickled Pink

That when my car broke down off of Kingsway Avenue a lot of strangers and friends helped to get it off the busy street until a tow truck arrived. I just wanted to publicly thank those involved.

Ticked Off

Thanks to our wonderful premier we have the highest measles outbreak in Canada.Everyone is concerned, but let’s not vaccinate, it’s not important in Alberta. Never has been.

Ticked Off

That Pierre Poilievre, after being rejected by the constituents he served for 20 years, is OK with taxpayers paying approximately $1.5 million for him to run in safe conservative riding to stay on as leader. I wonder what conservatives would say if the Liberals did that.

Tickled Pink

Congratulations to the Medicine Hat Tigers for their win against the Spokane Chiefs!

Ticked Off

When was the last time a journalist was assigned to research and publish a story focused on how fossil fuels enable us to enjoy full and productive lives? You know, a conversation about the wide-reaching and time-tested benefits. Fossil fuels provide the most cost-effective energy on the planet, and in Canada, we have an abundant supply and industry that continues to find clean ways to access and refine resources. What is everyone so afraid of?

Tickled Pink

After the Alberta cabinet changes, I would be happy to learn what happened to the Seniors portfolio.

Tickled Pink

Farmers market is back! Got the best locally roasted coffee beans in town!

Ticked Off

That in this province a government whistleblower exposing health-care corruption has to face, not only the endless taxpayer money being used against her with two law firms hired by this government, but also an additional lawsuit against her filed by Alberta’s Chief of Staff. Good thing we have GoFundMe.

Tickled Pink

By the CBC – can you imagine Canada without it? I can’t. I just listened to the Victoria Day holiday broadcast of Stewart MacLean’s “Odd Jobs Episode” of the Vinyl Cafe. I laughed until I cried.

Ticked Off

That dog owners don’t realize that when you leave your dog in your garage we still hear their annoying barking. It’s really sad when neighbours have to put up with this on a regular basis. And yes, I may have to call bylaw and then put up with your attitude toward me.

Ticked Off

Very happy for our city to be having a municipal election in October. Citizens are sick and tired of not being listened to and dismissed by city administration and council. Major changes are needed.

Ticked Off

To the person who asks what the problem is with the federal government. Cost of living. Housing. Unemployment. GDP. Etc. Must be nice not to have any issues.
