Letter: Canadians must not be fooled by the goals of Trump, Musk

Dear editor, Our neighbour to south of the 49th is in the midst of a coup launched by Donald Trump and his DOGE henchman, Elon Musk. No other word accurately captures the fast-paced and unlawful attacks against U.S. government institutions. Trump has launched a scorched-earth campaign against the federal government institutions – Project 2025. As Canadians, we must not be fooled. Trump and his tech bros have no regard for us. Canada must choose not to do business with Musk and his billionaire tech cronies. On March 31, the Canadian government $5,000 rebate program for electric vehicles ends. Severe tariffs against Tesla vehicles must be immediately implemented. Economic pressure can be applied by not buying U.S. products or travelling to the U.S. We need to hit the tech billionaires – like those who own Amazon, Facebook and X – where it hurts the most; their bottom line.
