Ticked Off Pierre Poilievre called fascism a “socialist ideology” at the National Holocaust Memorial of all places. Can he not go one day without pushing his edgy political crap, disrespecting Holocaust survivors and for what? Every time he opens his mouth I dislike him more and more. Not everything has to be a stage to try to get further ahead in the polls. Ticked Off That the premier is more worried about her agenda fighting COVID vaccines than the present health-care crisis we are having. Wish she would use that same energy fighting Donald Trump. Tickled Pink That we own a particularly prolific spider plant that we are constantly able to start new plants from. Tickled Pink That I am surrounded at home by beautiful art work, most of which is created by my super talented wife. Tickled Pink That I’ve rediscovered the joy of building plastic models and can afford better quality kits, supplies and an airbrush. Ticked Off The Doomsday clock in London is set at 89 seconds to midnight. Of course, when it ticks to midnight, we are done, end of humanity, end of the world and end of Earth. Yikes, I better get my laundry done for the big day. Ticked Off Well I’ve spent my last tourist dime in the U.S. Great stock tip, invest in knee pads for congress and all those who are on bended knee kissing Trump’s ring. What a spineless group. Ticked Off $2 million for a “non expert” opinion on COVID vaccine? How many nurses could have been hired using the money? It shows where Danielle Smith’s priorities are. Tickled Pink To find out who is going to guarantee the AER does a better job of monitoring and enforcing regulations with regards to coal mining than they did with the Kearl tailings leak. Tickled Pink I would be if the casino moved into a new building that’s designed to be a casino. Tickled Pink The days are getting longer, can’t wait to change our clocks. Tickled Pink If I knew who Prince Henry is and who his lawyers might be. Ticked Off Danielle Smith and the UCP have no respect for the people or land between the Rocky Mountains and Hudson Bay. Allowing coal mining to poison our rivers and land is environmentally criminal. So disgusting. Ticked Off With the editorial decision to pick the most unflattering photo of Danielle Smith for the front page Jan. 28. She wasn’t even prominent in the story, so the decision to use it was just spiteful. Does the editor even realize how offensive that choice was? Tickled Pink The old school in Riverside would make a wonderful place for a shelter and day centre for the street folks. It’s empty and a great location for transportation and services. Tickled Pink I would be if Canada would get out the news they are going to fight to get the U.S. to become the 11th province, or 50% tariffs are coming soon. Maybe Donald Trump would see how stupid he sounds. Ticked Off Council and City Hall need to remember the camera is always on them. You’ve set the bar extremely low by not completing the third-party review of the whistleblower policy. Ticked Off You can quote in your newsletter all the bylaws you like, or that this or that is prohibited. But without enforcement/consequences, these are merely words on a piece of paper that few read, and fewer heed. Tickled Pink To shop at local stores instead of store owned by big companies. Keep the money in our community. Ticked Off Whatever happened to the mayor’s campaign promise of transparency? Ticked Off That the mayor used the State of the City address to rail against staff, her usual grievance, rather than actually update citizens on what is going on with the city. Tickled Pink I’m sorry the report on Alberta’s pandemic response didn’t say what you wanted it to, but if you are in a supposedly life and death situation, your doctor should be able to try anything they can to save you, no? Tickled Pink Truly grateful our city has a great economic development team that was able to attract Taco Bell to the city. The food is outstanding and this will provide a lot of great local jobs. Ticked Off Our premier never has to wait in a line for health services. I’m sure she gets in right away. She’s streamlining services, but it’s not trickling down to the general public. Wait times are getting longer for the regular people. Ticked Off With the State of the City address. It wasn’t. It was a state of the mayor address. Not a good message at all for business or development for the city. Tickled Pink If the contributor could provide MHN with the list of Canadian brands versus American brands. Tickled even pinker if MHN would publish it. Tickled Pink Praise Nicole Frey if you like. But to be clear, she no longer lives in our city or county. Ticked Off Would be if the UCP idea of growing the Heritage Fund wasn’t at the expense of monies clawed away from education, health care and other necessaries. If Albertans are hungry, need vital medical care and receive cuts to education, a bulging savings account is moot. Ticked Off I am embarrassed that there are so many far left-reaching. They want so much given to them for nothing. I believe most people are right of centre, so who is radical? Ticked Off I am very ticked off OAS did not increase in January in spite of the inflation we are still experiencing. Property taxes are going up 5.6% but we get no increase. Tickled Pink At progress being made in Alberta on health care. Better than most provinces, but we need more private investment clinics. Ticked off at opposition NDPers who constantly complain while unions want respect. Union people you earn respect by work. Suggest some improvements that do not just call for higher wages, like increase work hours, change work rules and so on. Let debate start. Tickled Pink Thank you to all the wonderful years that Peavey Mart has been part of our community. So sad to see it gone. Tickled Pink Donald Trump was mocked for saying Mexico would build the wall the first time he ran. Now look what’s happening, Canada and Mexico both have to defend U.S. borders on their side of the line, and pay for it. Ticked Off That Donald Trump has sunk to a new low, even for him. When speaking after the tragic plane crash which claimed 67 lives he chose to cast blame (without evidence) insinuating that those at fault were either a racial minority (ie ‘not white’) or disabled in some way. How despicable are he and his fellow MAGA supporters who stand mutely by and even applaud this and many other atrocities? (Editor’s note: For the record, it turns out both pilots were white men.) Tickled Pink I would be if someone could tell me why I cannot find a banana that is not grossly over ripe. Since COVID all I see are bins full of wasted blackened bananas. Why is this even happening? Tickled Pink Hail to the Tigers! And how did our public news businesses respond? Our local TV business didn’t even mention the win over the top team. Shame on them, and I’m not even an avid fan. Ticked Off At all these complainers. Why don’t you do something positive and find some solutions to some of these problems. Start groups, rallies or something. If we had more positive people get together we wouldn’t live in such a crappy world. (Editor’s note: Irony is delicious.) Tickled Pink So happy I ran into a young man named Aaron at Foodland Thursday at around 5 p.m. This young man was going to let me go ahead of him, then paid for a bouquet of flowers I was buying for a friend. You are a wonderful young man! The world needs more young men like you. Keep up the good that you do! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Tickled Pink That Justin Trudeau is going to be replaced. He had zero qualifications for PM, lacing intelligence, or judgement. His only qualification was family name and the fact that he was “cute.” What to do with him now? No UN agency was stupid enough to offer him a job. Ticked Off The federal opposition leader seems to have disappeared. Canada is facing a big threat, and he’s nowhere to be seen. This is the man you want running the country? He should be out there telling us how he would handle this, but he is invisible. 81
