Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Dec. 3, 2024

By Ticked Off - Tickled Pink on December 3, 2024.

Ticked Off

The Goat Path trail in Crescent Heights is closed due to steep edges. Well, as the news anchor suggested, city staff should try using a shovel instead of their motorized equipment.

Ticked Off

More confused than ticked off. Since when is a convicted sex offender bully considered to be great man? It defies the imagination.

Tickled Pink

MHURA doesn’t understand the regulatory process with respect to the solar project and thinks they can inject politics into it. Loud and uninformed makes for hilarious theatre.

Tickled Pink

That there seems to be at least one other person in this city who can understand that the intersections at Sixth and 16th streets need to be closed. The solution is already in place. It is the cloverleaf at Gershaw Drive and Trans-Canada Highway. Thanks to the other person who has vision.

Tickled Pink

With all the flyers in today’s paper. Two of my catalog companies have closed and with no mail it’s been really hard to go Christmas gift shopping.

Ticked Off

Does Kelowna getting the Memorial Cup have anything to do with all the former CHL and NHL players living in Kelowna? Perhaps a few or more reached out to the selection committee. If this sounds like sour grapes, it is.

Ticked Off

Why do some people insist on shovelling more than the sidewalk onto the street? When you have side-by-side driveways it’s very frustrating when there’s a big pile that hinders turning onto the street.

Ticked Off

Pierre Poilievre wants to shield himself from controversy by not reading any classified documents. What a coward. How can he complain without any knowledge? Completely without credit. He is not the best person to be our next leader.

Tickled Pink

We adore the support we receive as a foster and the love and kindness that Bunny Run Rabbit Rescue shows to all of their rescued rabbits and the rabbits outside awaiting rescue. Fostering for Bunny Run has been rewarding and our family enjoys seeing the bunnies’ personalities shine as they settle into our home. We highly recommend looking into the opportunity to foster.

Tickled Pink

I love the optimism of hockey management thinking their team can play their way to a Memorial Cup, despite winning one playoff game in the last five years.

Tickled Pink

Dogs have hushers for the bark. What is there for humans who like the sound of their own voice? I have some ideas.

Ticked Off

Clearly, distracted driving in this city with phones is no longer a deterrent. I see it every single day, and mostly by people driving company vehicles. Obviously the MHPS is too busy to crack down on this problem. If someone hits me as a result, I will sue in the biggest way possible.

Ticked Off

Never in my 57 years of life have I ever seen such a bad, corrupt, felonious, sexist person become like a ‘Pied Piper’ to an entire country. I’m so glad it isn’t here. At least Canadians can recognize an idiot in politics when they see it. (Editor’s note: We can?)

Ticked Off

Do people out there ever check your vehicle lights? Driving down Dunmore Road from Walmart near dusk and counted six with only partial lights. Also one with no lights on at all.

Ticked Off

I think it is deplorable that Canada Post workers had to go on strike to let the country know they have legitimate requests, when Canada Post opened a $470-million distribution warehouse last fall. It is the size of six football fields to sort packages, which are (supposedly) decreasing in numbers. Is money a problem?

Ticked Off

That the Tigers didn’t get chosen to host the 2026 Memorial Cup. Hope the Tigers fans boo the Rockets out of town when they come through.

Ticked Off

Isn’t it convenient that Trump makes no commitment to Canada to do the same things he expects Canada to do. Is he prepared to stop illegal immigration into Canada as well as stopping the flow of drugs into Canada from the U.S. like he expects Canada to do?

Ticked Off

I think it is a country’s responsibility to protect its own border. When I go to the U.S. it is American customs that checks my ID, not Canadian customs. Maybe Canada should make the U.S. responsible for all the guns that come in from there.

Ticked Off

Our beautiful hockey rink is in the middle of empty industrial area. Why? Because the land was “free.” Backroom deals cost this city the Memorial Cup.

Tickled Pink

That I have a choice between a Taylor Swift concert or heating my home. I am 73. Guess which choice I made? (Editor’s note: Enjoy the concert, Grandpa.)

Ticked Off

How dare the CHL not select Medicine Hat to host the Memorial Cup? We’re entitled to it after 54 years of not bidding! (Editor’s note: Fair point.)

Ticked Off

That Trudeau thinks his GST holiday is so great. He’s obviously got no idea how retail tills work and what a pain in the nether region this is going to be. And by Dec. 15 all children’s toys have already been bought before they’re sold out.

Ticked Off

Our provincial government won’t tell us how much it is costing Alberta taxpayers to sue Canada with 10 lawsuits. Their lawyers are laughing all the way to the bank, while I sit in emergency all day because I don’t have a doctor. What a waste of money.

Ticked Off

That first Kelowna steals Nasty’s mask in 2004 then our Memorial Cup bid in 2024.

Ticked Off

What happened to the mandarin oranges this year? Not sweet. Some sour. Tried two batches.

Ticked Off

Another self entitled move by our MLAs giving themselves $270 more for accommodations each month. That allowance is available to all MLAs who live 60 km or more from the legislature building, as well as representatives who live closer but work more than 12 hours on a given day. Is that not the case for most hardworking Albertans travelling for work but don’t get a travel benefit? That $270 would help the homeless or the food bank. Just plain selfishness at the cost of taxpayers.
