Ticked Off The UCP is removing the $200 donation limit to elected officials. Lining their own pockets is obviously more important than improving healthcare, education, housing and tackling cost of living issues. Hopefully Danielle Smith has fun at her next Oilers playoff game. Ticked Off The Alberta government would like you to believe that scrapping the cap would make your life better but it would actually do the opposite. The tax would force energy companies to find ways to comply and create more jobs and stimulate the economy. Ticked Off The city is funding a rural health-care service to the tune of $1 million for a service that doesn’t actually serve Hatters, and leaving their municipal fund-dependent police service in the black. The 2025 municipal election can’t come fast enough. Ticked Off City traffic counts should be more precise. Allowance Avenue, for example, shows 1,000 to 5,000 per day. That is a pretty big spread. Tickled Pink Amused by the post saying “Thank you to Bruce Penton and Alex McCuaig for letting us know the ‘narrowed’ roadway on Division Avenue is the same width as Highway 3.” I think someone needs a new tape measure, as they are definitely not the same width. Ticked Off It will be interesting to see what happens when someone has a flat tire, runs out of gas, or has some other issue with their vehicle on Division Avenue when there is no room to push it over to the side so traffic can pass. I’m not sure why people think it will have a calming effect, or will slow traffic down. Supposedly it is the same width as Highway 3 and people drive 120+ km/h there. Ticked Off As a cyclist in Medicine Hat, a 3.7m wide lane is too narrow for safe passage of vehicles with a bike occupying one metre of that space. Riding on a multi-use pathway is ridiculous. Tickled Pink With the expertise, sensitivity and care of the Medicine Hat Hospital Emergency physician and staff regarding my right toe’s seven stitches. Also, to 811 for their excellent advice regarding the use of hydrogen peroxide spray for daily bandage changes. It’s odd. I safely worked with biothreats for 30 years, but it was gardening that did me in. Ticked Off For your information, the drone was flying overhead on Remembrance Day for the crowd’s safety, because I talked to the police officer flying it after the ceremony. Ticked Off To the person who took my neighbour’s 4×4 posts from our back alley in Ross Glen. I caught you and your licence plate on my security camera, return them within a week from Nov. 14 or I will send the video to the police, and if anything else goes missing in the neighbourhood I’ll know who to point them towards. Ticked Off Makes me laugh how politicians tout 2% inflation numbers. Too bad nearly everything doubled in price, so going up 2% on that new paradigm is still a big deal. Ticked Off Oh my. Another motorist who can’t figure out how to drive safely in the city. Using your signal lights is a great start. Maybe you should park your vehicle and walk. Oh no, you probably can’t figure out how to safely walk on the sidewalk either. (Editor’s note: From what we read here, maybe stay away from Division Avenue.) Tickled Pink That our city will be undergoing a municipal inspection. Hopefully all layers of staff, administration and council will benefit from its findings. The City of Chestermere’s municipal inspection report is an interesting read. Tickled Pink To see Conservative MPs frustrated after Pierre Poilievre barred them from promoting housing fund. His ego and arrogance are bigger than what Canadians want or need. He is stumbling. Tickled Pink That Highway 3 is 3.7 metres wide per lane, not including the paved shoulders. Overall width, including shoulders is 12 metres. At least it is at my place near Seven Persons. Makes sense since an 18 wheeler is 2.6 meters wide. Ticked Off Love the new provincial commercials we paid for about numerous nursing jobs here, but nothing about how they’re leaving for more money elsewhere. Plus the teacher jobs. Good thing we only get one side in these ads “we” pay for. Ticked Off Americans were hoodwinked into voting against their best interest by a few billionaires who are against most legislation that would benefit the middle class, and are for tax cuts for the rich. Hopefully that won’t happen here. Ticked Off Our MP Glen Motz, in his latest newsletter, would like to blame the Liberal government for substandard sleeping bags issued to military servicemen in northern exercises. Really? Trudeau is responsible for military procurement? Get real. We deserve better representation. Ticked Off So Canada Post is $30B in debt. What a perfect time to go on strike, because as we all know, taxpayers have bottomless pockets. Tickled Pink For the last few hundred years, our climate in southern Alberta has been semi-arid. Today it is still semi-arid. Ticked Off Daniel Smith says she’s attending the inauguration in January of Trump. And, are Alberta taxpayers paying for this? What is going on with the UCP? No one is using their brain in the party. Ticked Off So pleased with our MP office. When three carbon rebates were missing, I contacted the MP office, and the staff went to work on my behalf. Pleased to report that the three payments were deposited to my account today. Tickled Pink Thanks to the MH Regional Hospital nurses on 4 West for the care and patience you gave me, an impatient patient. Tickled Pink That I am not a cyclist, I would have to learn how to endlessly complain. (Editor’s note: Ah yes, as opposed to drivers, who are notoriously known for keeping their cool.) Ticked Off As I sit and watch the frivolous $7-million ads that our esteemed UCP government spent our tax dollars on, I thought to myself, that money would have gone a long way in sheltering the homeless and feeding the hungry this winter. At least some people would have benefited. What a blatant waste. Ticked Off At people who go to a hockey game and talk throughout the whole game. If you want to visit and not watch the game, go out for coffee. Tickled Pink If stores would stop selling and people stopped buying “ice melter.” It gets on dog’s feet and my shoes and tracked into vehicles and house. It doesn’t really do anything but make a mess. Pick up some of the sandy gravel like the City spreads. Cheaper. Better traction. No mess. Please. Tickled Pink Just had a double hernia repair at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital and, as expected, I had the best, friendliest and professional care from the doctor and from the excellent nursing staff. We are so lucky to have such a great staff at MHRH. Thank you! Ticked Off The Alberta premier is attending Trump’s inauguration using taxpayer money. And what could happen if “someone” finds out the premier is probably vaccinated? Tickled Pink The city is finally considering a recreational facility for the south side, it’s long overdue. Ticked Off Having just watched the last city council meeting, it is clear that a ‘cleaning of the whole’ has to be done. Not only council, but all down the line. Tickled Pink City Hall insults our intelligence. No kidding, with postal strike we still need to pay utility bill. Gee thanks for your infinite wisdom. (Editor’s note: You get that the ‘caution hot’ warning on a coffee cup isn’t meant for everyone, yeah?) Tickled Pink Citizens would be if council would listen to their request of transparency. It is not unreasonable to know what tax dollars are being spent on. Ticked Off Our provincial government tells us they want the federal government to scrap the cap because it will increase prices nationwide. I do not think it will. How will it increase prices? They don’t say. Who is lying? Not me. Ticked Off The size of a hamburger is shrinking. The size of the patty is shrinking. Does the size have to be legislated? Why is everything shrinking? Pretty soon hamburgers will be smaller than my hand. Ticked Off I just played a trivia game that said the population has doubled since 1970. People still think we need more growth. Let’s make it wall to wall people. When will it stop? Tickled Pink I think a certain local radio personality should hang up their cap. 75
