Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Nov. 14, 2024

Ticked Off

So big trucks drive over the traffic circle? So it’s not a traffic circle, it’s a speed bump. Should’ve figured that out when News ran front page photo of a truck going the wrong way around the ersatz traffic circle and no one commented.

Ticked Off

Please for give our American neighbours, for they know not what they have done.

Ticked Off

People who deny climate change have their head in the sand. It is a global problem that needs to be dealt with by as many ideas as possible. Carbon tax is one of those ideas and has shown signs of success.

Tickled Pink

The only thing good of Pierre Poilievre wins next federal election will be Trump eating him up and spitting him out like a bad smell.

Ticked Off

I was not happy about the drone flying overhead at the Remembrance Day service at the park. It was intrusive and annoying, and its presence detracted from the solemnity of the occasion. Whatever its purpose was, I’m sure it could have been accomplished in a more subtle way, and I hope not to see this again.

Ticked Off

That someone changed the words in my submission. I wrote “______ and ______ better remember.” It was changed to “They better remember.” And you wonder why people diss the local media. (Editor’s note: Better?)

Tickled Pink

Need unique unroasted chocolate? Try the little boutique on Fourth Street.

Ticked Off

The postal union has refused a wage increase of 11.5% over four years. There are people in our city lucky to get 20 cents an hour raise, and many who get none. Postal workers have served notice of a strike at the worst time of year. Yes, they hope this will force Ottawa to change the offer, but it will also force citizens to send things through other delivery channels.

Ticked Off

AHS is bragging about the new low-cost agreement with software vendor Epic Systems. Company headquarters are in Verona, Wisc., whose CEO is 81-year-old billionaire Judy Faulkner. Epic controls 325 million patient records worldwide. Why does AHS need to go out of country when there are many software companies in Alberta and Canada? Will our health records remain safe and confidential?

Tickled Pink

If all governments, health care and law enforcement would collaborate toward the growing social travesty of homelessness. A recent road trip to our East Coast and back, we saw it everywhere. More often than not, it was far worse than here. Housing is a start but we will not end homelessness without comprehensive supports, long-term strategy and designated financing.

Ticked Off

I can now see why so many are excited to see Donald Trump win the U.S. election. After all, isn’t he the perfect role model you would like your kids and grandkids to look up to as a moral guide? Yup, makes sense now.

Ticked Off

Not really ticked, more disappointed that people are heaping praise on a misogynistic, narcissistic, convicted rapist. What happened to decency and respect for others?

Tickled Pink

At Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all offences.

Ticked Off

Very disappointed with quite a few city departments, including our police service, which just doesn’t seem to care or devote significant time to investigation of criminal behaviour. Not my first rodeo on that score either, and it would seem they are very busy tied up with all the murders and ‘bank jobs’ we have here.

Ticked Off

I too received a phone call with the voice saying, “Hi Mom, I have a broken nose.” The scumbags are at it again right here in the Hat – beware, don’t want to see another victim. Don’t answer your phone if you can’t identify the number; remember, they’ll leave a message if important.

Ticked Off

Donald Trump has not changed the mindset of American voters, he has revealed it.

Ticked Off

MP Glen Motz is like our premier, quick to blame Ottawa for our problems. In a recent letter he emphasizes that Trudeau is responsible for housing. Since when? At best, he has influence. I would like to point out that Mr. Motz’s name has not been seen in the promotion of anything relating to housing (or much else for that matter.)

Ticked Off

Won’t see much difference if Canada Post goes on strike. Renewal credit cards mailed to us Oct 8. To date not received. Had to get our bank to cancel and issue new cards, which were sent to us by courier (not Canada Post) and arrived in three days. In the past six months we have counted seven pieces of mail put in our box by mistake.

Ticked Off

I voted for Jason Kenney’s UCP because the NDP didn’t work for me, but Danielle Smith’s UCP is way too scary for me. What to do in the far to distant next election, is there another choice? Or are we doomed?

Tickled Pink

I always appreciate the positivity in Bruce Penton’s column in the Medicine Hat News. Thank you to Bruce and Alex McCuaig for letting us know the “narrowed” roadway on Division Avenue is the same width as Highway 3. Both are 3.7 metres wide.

Tickled Pink

To see the weeds cut down in Parkview Drive along the walking path along Police Point Drive and Preston Avenue. Thank you. Appreciate the initiative. Looks so good!

Tickled Pink

They said President Trump would be a tyrant, yet many of his first acts will be to take power away from the federal government and put it in the hands of the states. Sorry, dinosaur media, you are wrong yet again.
