Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Dec. 7, 2023

Ticked Off

From having to talk to checkout people through a plexiglass screen, using my own bag or being charged for one by the store. I realize now why I do most of my business with Amazon.

Tickled Pink

I prefer paper bags. I’d sooner see millions of trees cut down to make them rather than plastic bags polluting the environment. After all, Justin Trudeau said he wants 2 billion trees planted by 2030 and if he said it, take it to the bank!

Tickled Pink

That the Medicine Hat Curling Club is going to use the old arena for their curling this winter.

Ticked Off

The Post shut down. Surely the Alberta government could assist in keeping them in business. Twenty jobs evaporate and UCP just doesn’t care.

Ticked Off

Are we all mourning? I’m tired of “Blue Christmas” every year. Whatever happened to colours? Red, green, yellow, etc. Finally, BATUS added some colour to their tree. Are you trying to make us all sad and depressed?

Ticked Off

A right-wing talk-show host speaking for Alberta at the Climate Conference. How embarrassing.

Ticked Off

The closure of the thrift store should not have happened. The relocation, coupled with the loss of individuals who cared, was the proverbial nail.

Tickled Pink

If as much work were done by governments and schools – at all levels and in all departments – to support conservation of energy, as there is in supporting industries that produce and store more and more energy. The cheapest and most reliable way to reduce CO2 is to use less energy in our governments, schools, churches, recreation, entertainment, manufacturing, transportation, farms, gardens and homes.

Tickled Pink

I find it increasingly irritating with the seemingly constant rants against Danielle Smith. Let’s see: health care being re-engineered, Highway 3 twining (about to be) underway, Dupont investing $6.5 billion, two SCOC rulings against regressive Liberal bills, De-Havilland building a new aircraft plant west of Strathmore and the Sovereignty Act. So exactly what did Rachel Notley do in four years? Spend spend, spend.

Ticked Off

Those of you are in favor of the Alberta Conservatives taking over the CPP you may want to contact the ATA to find out what happened to the Teachers pension in the early 1990’s when it was discovered the pension plan had a large unfunded liability because of Government mismanagement.

Ticked Off

The banks pay record bonuses to top people, but we get mad at grocery stores who don’t make nearly as much. When was the last time you checked to see how long to pay your credit debt if you could only afford minimum payments? And that’s not on the government agenda, because know who runs the country.

Ticked Off

Why is the price of gas so high in Medicine Hat? Price of gas in Swift Current is 147.9. If you subtract road tax (13 cents), price would be 134.9. MH is 138.9. Someone needs to check on the Gas Bars in Medicine Hat regarding road tax.

Ticked Off

How the city wastes money on frivolous positions and unnecessary bureaucracy. It’s time to get back to the core of what city government should do and cut the extraneous spending. If you want my vote you need to lower taxes.

Tickled Pink

Park Meadows did an amazing job with the Christmas lights this year and the weather these days is perfect to go for a walk and enjoy them.

Ticked Off

CPP is a separate entity not run by government. We do not want Alberta politicians to touch it. Look what they have done to the health system. Look how much money they are wasting trying to make it happen. Leave it alone.

Ticked Off

I think, if The Post showed a profit or at least “paid for itself” it would still be open. It was a marvellous operation for about 40 years, but the market changed with the addition of the for-profit, major, used-goods store and I’m sure that drove The Post out of business. It wasn’t political, it was economics.

Tickled Pink

To know Santa has an elf donating beautiful Christmas Wreaths to a local seniors home. The smiles given were contagious!

Tickled Off

Thanks to the editor for explaining in great detail where the funding came from to construct Towne Square and how much it personally cost us. I want my 17 cents back.

Ticked Off

Premier sure loves to spend money on bringing a large number of her cabinet and staff to Dubai. That’s taxpayers’ money that could have been used for CMHA.

Ticked Off

I wonder if Coun. McGrogan would have been so enthused about the sunshine list of city employees when he was on it.

Tickled Pink

Watching the documentary “Uncharitable” opened our eyes about misconceptions with NPO/Charities spending money on salaries and advertising. If an organization spends $10K on ads and gets $100K in donations because of it, it’s a good expense.

Tickled Pink

There is one city councillor who attends everything she can for our city. It does not go unnoticed. Thank you.
