Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Nov. 23, 2023

By Ticked Off - Tickled Pink on November 23, 2023.

Tickled Pink

I read with interest all the Ticked Off and Tickled Pink submissions each Tuesday and Thursday. People should inform themselves before spouting off. We live in a great city and our council has our best interests at heart. The old saying, “put up or shut up,” may apply – if you are unsatisfied with how council is working on your behalf, perhaps your name should be on the next civic election ballot.

Tickled Pink

With the commentator who explained how we all pay into the CPP. Yes, it’s capped. So no, we as Albertans do not contribute more than anyone else in the country. Keep your hands off my retirement money, Danielle Smith.

Tickled Pink

Again the courts have ruled the Feds were guilty of overreach in their single use plastic law. I wonder who was even enforcing this? You could go to some places and they still, to our great satisfaction, had useable plastic straws and cutlery.

Ticked Off

What good are secret ballads if municipal candidates have to show political affiliations? Smacks of dictatorship to me.

Tickled Pink

If the downtown businesses actually benefited in sales during the midnight madness. I think it’s more family entertainment than people doing actual Christmas shopping.

Ticked Off

That the premier is now trying to make local elections based on party politics rather than local and based on the needs of the local population.

Ticked Off

By the premier wanting to make Alberta into a mini United States. If you like U.S. policies, health care, government systems and politics so much, she should move there.

Ticked Off

When stores advertise “up to 60% off” when in reality the only stuff that is 60% off has been sitting there for the last eight months. Black Friday sales in our city lack any great deals.

Tickled Pink

Thankful for the submission to this forum by the person who clearly understands and recognizes the folly of believing promises uttered by Alberta’s current spendthrift Official Opposition.

Tickled Pink

To see the look on Tucker Carlson’s face when he steps off the plane in Calgary to find out we don’t live in igloos.

Ticked Off

When running in the byelection here, Danielle Smith promised construction on Highway 3 twinning would start that fall (2022). It will actually start in 2024. Just like Kenney, she promises big and delivers small.

Ticked Off

When the city makes over $100 million off the utilities and yet still has to increases taxes, while still running a deficit it is obvious they have a spending problem.

Ticked Off

So many people going off about someone taking a page out of Donald Trump’s book. What book is this? I need quotes. Do you think that no one is allowed to think like him? Forty-seven per cent of voters in the U.S. voted for him last time, and look at him in the polls now.

Ticked Off

Everything is going up, including a proposed city tax increase of 4%. The combined maximum of OAS/CPP is predicted to rise 2.85% in 2024. For seniors, what is going to give? How can we go on strike?

Tickled Pink

Thanks to the Sobey’s manager who opened a bag of parsnips and allowed me to purchase the two I needed. He saved me $5 on my grocery bill.

Ticked Off

How reprehensible that my tax dollars are being used to disseminate the biased views of Preston Manning (and Danielle Smith) on public health matters.
