Ticked Off R. Kipling declared that Medicine Hat has ‘all hell for a basement.’ It also has all hell for the main floor. Ticked Off This inflationary government keeps getting in. I guess the next generations won’t be able to own a home. Just get to make payments for a couple of generations. Maybe then own. Doubtful. Ticked Off Even our school board chair Catherine Wilson indicated she observes drivers texting while driving. As well, I see it everywhere, along with red light and stop sign violations. Would be a safer city if enforcement was stepped up on our city streets. Ticked Off No man is an island. If you think Alberta is better off on its own than part of Canada, give your head a shake. We would never survive on our own, and I don’t want to. I am proud to live in Alberta and be a Canadian. Ticked Off At the utility prices in Medicine Hat. We own our electric power plant, also some natural gas. Let’s get it together, city council. What’s with the three options? Set the price the same for all residents, and we don’t care what the other city’s are paying. Ticked Off I agree with other disgusted citizens, the UCP must keep their hands off our CPP. To develop a “made for Alberta” plan would require expertise the Smith government does not have. Tickled Pink Whatever the issue, if Rachel Notley and her group of NDP misfits are against it, it’s gotta be the best thing for Alberta! Go Danielle Go! Ticked Off With people leaving their sunglasses on when being photographed. The whole point of the photo is lost. Tickled Pink A good reminder for us all: “We are here to show the next generation what our ancestors were taught – the values of respecting one another, loving one another, helping one another. That’s what we need now, we need to come back to that.” Tickled Pink Yes, I too look forward to the cooler weather covering up hideous tattoos. But we’ll get the last laugh when these people are old with wrinkled, loose, sagging skin. Talk about hideous! Ticked Off Alberta Health Services is the provincial health agency tasked with delivering health services to Albertans. Alberta Health is the government department that sets policy, legislation and standards for the health system. If a hospital, clinic, or lab is poorly run, it’s the agency and not the department at fault. Tickled Pink We adult cyclists ride our bikes on sidewalks because it is the safest alternative until the city can find a way to create safe, dedicated bike lanes for us to use. Until drivers change their behaviour and stop texting while driving, running red lights or making turns without checking for pedestrians and cyclists, this is the safest way for us to get to the bike trails. Tickled Pink That our mayor is a stand-up person. She knows the law, as well as how procedures are supposed to work. If the old council members cannot follow protocol then get out. How dare you report our mayor for any wrong doing. Ticked Off That people on bicycles cannot see the pedestrian signs proceeding the walkway. It shows a person walking, not riding a bike. Get with the program, all you cyclists, as I do not have to stop for you. (Editor’s note: You definitely still have to stop for them. Running people over is, like, illegal and stuff.) Ticked Off At all the jay walkers in this city. If you get hit, you will be charged, not the driver. Do you have a death wish walking out into traffic? (Editor’s note: You definitely still have to stop for them. Running people over is, like, illegal and stuff.) Ticked Off To the inconsiderate person who constantly uses his noisy gas leaf blower to blow every single leaf off his driveway and sidewalks out into the middle of the road. Guess what? The wind blows them into your neighbour’s yards. Bag them up like the rest of us do, we have enough of our own leaves to pick up without yours, too. Ticked Off That there are probably unpaid columns in the News from local Christian church pastors, but no columns from other faith groups or secular humanists or atheists. If representatives of these groups submitted suitable column information to the News would the News publish those, or would the News fear losing advertising revenue from local Christian churches? (Editor’s note: The News does not fear losing $0, so submit your heart out. Or, you could ignore the three, 300-word ‘probably unpaid columns from local Christian church pastors’ we run each month. Your call.) Ticked Off That even curlers are wearing advertising from sports-betting companies. So, they’re getting rich off addicted people betting on them, too. I thought only NHL and NFL were the low-lifes, so now I’m avoiding curling on TV. Ticked Off I don’t feel secure in my own country anymore with the pack of fools we have running our country and cutting our national defence budget by $1 billion is ludicrous. We totally rely on the USA to protect us. Ticked Off The annual meeting of UCP is to take place in early November. The danger for the party (and Alberta) is the Take Back Alberta group is planning to place a number of its believers in executive positions and control the party apparatus. The TBA’s aim is then to have the grassroots run government. A dark day for Alberta if that occurs. Ticked Off Alberta government thinks going with a provincial pension plan is a good idea. What aren’t we told? The cost of setting it up? The cost of running it? There are tons of hidden costs that we aren’t being told about. When something looks too good to be true, then it is probably isn’t reality. Ticked Off I am so sick of the city constantly reducing transit service. The city needs to stop treating us like second-class citizens. We deserve better. Tickled Pink Amusing how counties and government lack governance. Why solar panels were erected on good producing farm land worth $12-$15,000 per acre is beyond me. (Burdett) Clearly big business pulls the strings. Perhaps it’s about time that those governing society be required to pass an IQ test. Ticked Off By the demonstrators on 13th Avenue glorifying Hitler by showing his image on their signs. Ticked Off Hope all the city employees enjoyed their paid day off, while none of them do any Truth and Reconciliation training, learning or activities. Leadership should be embarrassed. 51
