Letter: No one should have to pay for medical care

By Letter to the Editor on November 25, 2021.

Dear editor,

To the lady that feels that any unvaxxed people that go to the hospital with COVID should pay their own medical expenses. Surely she jests. What about all the cigarette smokers and alcohol abusers that cost us billions of dollars per year in medical expenses? What about the obese people that are severe diabetics, should they not pay? Not all people that are unvaccinated are antivaxxers. Many are pro choice. Are we all sheep? Be kind to each other. Stand up for the right of choice.

Why are polio, HPV, flu, pneumonia and other vaccines not mandatory?

They also cost millions of dollars in health care. Are we being led by governments that want to take away our freedoms?

Well said Mark. To add to your point, cigarettes, cannabis and alcohol are heavily “sin” taxed, thus these people (myself inclusive) are contributing more tax anyway. The working class pay for their medical expenses via income tax. Lets not forget the government has no money of its own, it is all OUR tax money they spend.
