Letter: Schnee hits the nail on the head

Dear editor, Dr. Daniel Schnee really hit the nail on the head with his column “Learn to speak English!” I am an English speaker with a smattering of high school French. I have often thought how difficult it must be for immigrants who come to this country, assimilate and work successfully. I admire anyone who makes the effort to speak another language while supporting themselves and their family. As Dr. Schnee said, a basic sense of compassion is necessary to appreciate their effort.
