Almost exactly four and a half years ago, I packed up a car full of stuff and drove across the country to start my career. When I first moved to Medicine Hat, I thought I’d be here for a year – tops. Quickly, like so many others, I established a life here and met so many important people. I got sucked into the vortex. I did a great job at avoiding the Comment page over the years, but today I am saying goodbye to you, the reader. Friday was my final shift at the News, making today’s stories my last in the paper. I have taken well over 3,000 photos during my time at the paper and the News’ website has nearly 1,500 entries for my last name. When I moved here, I had no idea what I was getting into, but I’m thankful News management hired me as a 22-year-old with no actual experience. I’ve had a great time here and am so thankful to everyone who trusted me with their stories over the years. Thank you for reading, Medicine Hat. It’s been a lot of fun. The next chapter of my life is really exciting for me, and it involves Medicine Hat. If you see me out on the trails for a walk or at Superstore, don’t hesitate to say hi.
