Looking outside of the city limits to find ways to attract summer visitors to the downtown core

By Letter to the Editor on September 29, 2020.

If the goal is to make the downtown more pedestrian friendly, city bureaucrats and council should acquaint themselves with what has been done permanently in Kimberly, B.C. and for the summer season in Canmore.

Two blocks of main street, with some adjoining side streets are closed off to vehicular traffic.

This small gesture attracts people in droves who mingle, shop, and relax with a coffee, tea, or drink with great food choices.

A trial few weeks next summer should be explored now for our friendly city in the sunny South.
