When my grandma passed at the end of July it was sad because I had spent time helping her with personal care in her home. She passed away in the morning and that night I was with some friends outside. I asked God in my heart if she was with Him. Shortly after we saw two shooting stars. It was an amazing thing to comfort me. The next week a neighbour lent a book to my same friends in my building called “Story in the Stars.” That made me curious and I read a little bit and began to realize there was more to discover, a new adventure. I learned the constellations and stars that are named have meanings and those meanings tell a story. They have aligned on Jewish holidays and continue to do so. I was hungry to learn more about my heritage as I am part Jewish but also to research and share any findings with others who might be interested. This is astronomy, my new hobby. It is different than astrology, I don’t need to look to stars to tell me my personal future as I have the One who made the stars to do that. Melanie Herman Medicine Hat 8
