As our provincial election looms, I carry a faint hope for the following. Of utmost importance to me is, on behalf of all candidates, an ability to answer inquiries, not with pat party jargon, but rather knowledgeable, insightful and honest responses. How refreshing it would be to have a candidate actually respond with an answer admitting party policy faults and mistakes along with well researched and plausible solutions. I hope for the electorate to be prudent, to ask difficult questions and to be open to respectful and honest dialogue. In other words, I want everyone to think before checking a ballot. Our province desperately needs reform. Our health-care system is broken and unsustainable. Education faces a number of serious challenges which cannot be ignored. Unemployment has skyrocketed and our deficit is astronomical. So, regardless of party affiliation, I would urge candidates and electorate to consider change. Look outside to other countries for ideas and systems that work. I understand change is difficult and implementation slow, but now is the time to start putting new strategies to work. Agreed!!! I am tired of being treated like an impressionable idiot by candidates. I don’t care if they grew up in rural Fairview (Notley’s little infomercial) or if they can make breakfast for their grandchildren (Global News Kitchen Party). I am offended by their lack of respect for my intelligence. I mean , honestly, do you think that will influence my vote? How about telling me how you plan to fix everything that is broken in Alberta.
Thinking before you vote. What a concept.
Great comments guys. Albertans have been treated like morons for long enough. Even Jason Kenney’s buddy Brian Jean from the Reform Harper Government is pointing out Kenney can’t be trusted and we certainly know you aren’t going to fix the mess the Klein, Stelmach and Redford governments created without spending billions and there is no way you are going to be able to repay the huge debt it’s creating by not bringing the taxes and royalties back up to the Lougheed levels like Notley is trying to do.
There is no question that what Kenney is promising will only make the situation a lot worse.
