Remember and respect the past

Before becoming too enthusiastic about removing the past to conform to the present, it might be instructive to remember the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem as a memorial to truly significant and horrifying events perpetrated upon the Jewish people during thee Second World War.

Every Remembrance Day ceremony contains a phrase the Israeli people have learned to respect: Lest we forget.

Remembering events of the past is one of the surest ways to ensure that they are not repeated.
