Fish and Wildlife investigating after deer shot, left alive in farmer’s field

Fish and Wildlife officers are asking for help after a mule deer buck was shot and left alive in a farmer’s field northeast of Medicine Hat.

On Nov. 11 officers were called about the deer found near Range Road 20 and Highway 528 in Wildlife Management Unit 148. Upon finding the deer, officers determined they had no choice but to end the animal’s suffering.

Investigation revealed vehicle tracks that led to the deer and then back.

Fish and Wildlife asks anyone with information about the case to call the Report A Poacher number at 1-800-642-3800 or the Medicine Hat office at 403-529-3680. Callers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward.
