Hat dragonboat teams race at Calgary event

A pair of Medicine Hat teams were in Calgary for the Sinopec Calgary Dragonboat Race and Festival this past weekend.

The Snapdragons and Thunderstrokes each took to the water at North Glenmore Park, their earlier times seeding them into later races.

The Snapdragons’ best 500-metre time on the weekend was 2:50.31, earning them second place in a heat. They also had a pair of third-place finishes before finishing with a second-place result Sunday.

The Thunderstrokes had a best time of 2:53.01 which earned a third-place heat finish. They were fourth in all three other heats they competed in, the last two of which included the Snapdragons.
