1916 ~ DENNILLIA BISCHOFF ~ 2017

Dennillia "Nellie" Sehn Deis Bischoff of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, February 13th, 2017 at the age of 100 years. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated today at ST. 1930 ~ STEWART TORRIE ~ 2017

Stewart “Stew” George Torrie, beloved husband of Lillian Torrie of Medicine Hat, passed away on Tuesday, February 28th, 2017 at the age of 86 years. Stew also leaves to cherish his memory his children, Doug (Anne) Torrie, Elaine Torrie, and Brenda (Aaron) Smith; five grandchildren, Michael (Laura), Kevin (Darci), Logan, Lindsey, and Sydney; five great-grandchildren, Brooke, Rylee, Rylan, Milo, and Nova; one brother, Bart Torrie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Stew was predeceased by his parents, George and Isabella Torrie; and three brothers. Stew was a teacher and Vice Principal with the Medicine Hat School District #76 for 32 years, where he was liked and respected by students and fellow teachers alike. Born and raised on a farm in Saskatchewan, Stew never lost his love for farming and raising stock. He did throughout most of his life. Stew as an active member and President of the Canadian Highland Cattle Association. He was on the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede Board for many years, where he was in charge of both livestock and art exhibits. Stewart also enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, painting and sculpting. Stewart will be lovingly remembered by both family and friends for his great sense of humour and his infectious laugh. A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends Saturday March 11th, 2017 at the Chinook Village Terrace Room, 2801 13th Avenue SE. The celebration will begin with an open mike at 1 p.m. and luncheon to follow. Jean Isabel Houston, formerly of Shaunavon, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2017 at St. Josephs’s Home Carmel Hospice, at the age of 90 years. Jean is survived by her daughter Barbara (Tom) Monson (Sean, Kevin) of Medicine Hat and her daughter Patti (Grant) Illerbrun (Sara, Samantha and Travis) of Shaunavon. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 11 at 2:00 p.m. in the Centre Street United Church, Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. After a long illness, Rick Patzer passed away on Feb. 24,2017 at the age of 70. Rick is survived by his wife Mirella, his children Amanda(Brad) Braaksma, Genna (Jeff) Hawryluk, Richard Patzer and Paula Patzer (Bill). He is also survived by his brothers Doug ( Clara), Gary and sister Karen (Bruce) Fochler, 7 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeseased by his mother Doris and father Leon. Relatives and friends are invited to a vistation at Choice Memorial, 105-4715 13th St.NE, Calgary on Sunday March 5,2017 at 6:30 to 7:30 PM.
